That’s an actual photo of one, isn’t it, Scott? (A fruitcake, not a pyramid brick)

No that’s a real Fruit Cake. That can double as a brick.

I hate to ask but it has been a few days… Will there be any remembrance of Kirstie by anyone in the office? I know the site here was having problems when she passed, but I was just wondering…

That fruitcake has too much batter in it….makes a heavy lethal weapon….

My fruit and nut holiday loaves look like stained glass, no batter to speak of, and tastes fabulous! A family request …..

The first thing I thought it looked like was a Cocoa Pebbles Marshmallow Treat with M&M’s.

    Much tastier and MUCH lighter!

Done properly, fruitcake is quite good. Problem is that only a fraction of fruitcakes are done to my taste (though they probably meet the tastes of others.)

I do a variation of Alton Brown’s Free Range Fruitcake. I have family members who swore they hated fruitcake now ask for it every year. Made three batches this year.

I’ve heard of people who exchange a fruitcake every year, the same fruitcake every year. That made me think of your family, Scott, and their baloney sandwich exchange. With fruitcake, or Twinkies, you don’t have to replace the bread and baloney every year.

The brick part was closer to the truth.

If he had baked a larger cake, and made it dense enough, he could have sculpted it into a bust of Rita.

If there’s enough booze in it, you won’t notice that it’s breaking your teeth.

I have had one fruitcake that I’ve enjoyed. No candied fruit came within a mile of it.

I never cared much for store-bought fruitcake, but my parents did. Then one day I tried heating it up in the toaster oven and it was completely different. That’s how to make them palatable; eat it warm.

Mom heard about this bakery from her bff in the mid-60’s, so the day after Thanksgiving she’d mail the order for a cake, and it arrived around three weeks in time.. https://eilenbergers.goldbelly.com/1-world-famous-texas-pecan-fruitcake
