Janis: Who's controlling that thing?
Arlo: No idea.
Arlo: Maybe the police, maybe utility workers.
Arlo: Most likely it's a person in the neighborhood!
Janis: Maybe it's that hunk over on Walnut.
Arlo: Could be anyone in a one-mile radius.

Sort of drone ignorant here, but as they are going to be more common everyday, Is there a way from Arlo and Janis’ position to know just what the drone is observing or possibly recording? It seems to me that it could be "Yes the drone is directly overhead, but is actually watching something at another nearby location.

I don’t think that you would be able to tell what it is up to.

If Janis refers to a “hunk” over on Walnut then she might not be averse to teasing him by showing a little skin. Who knows what this might lead to. Maybe a little hanky panky on Janis’ part..

if you could shoot the lens with a paintball would the operator be able to fly back to his location?

Thing comes in my yard and it’s getting taken down any way I can and I’ll deal with the consequences later…

My police dept is checking into it in my state for me. My land is posted. We are seeing if that covers air space. I have ptsd. If something with a camera comes at me, believe me it is a threat to my safety…., I will get it with a hose (I do not believe in guns in the home) and when it’s on the ground, it would be trespassing to pick it back up. If it lands in my yard, and someone enters my space to pick it up I will have THEM arrested. I live out in the country as it were so hopefully I won’t have an issue. These things frankly terrify me.

It’s an aircraft and interference with the operation of an aircraft is a federal offense.

called our local pd who did some research… as of now, 500 feet above my land is my private air space and is covered by my no trespassing signs… so if a drone were to come into my yard I could deal with it any way I wanted and moreover if it’s owner came into my yard without permission I could have them arrested. since the FAA has not caught up and the current federal laws are more like suggestions, my state law trumps it… Works for me.

I find it interesting that the comics and it’s comment section are dealing with issues that that gov’t is trying to avoid…

The best thing to do is whip out your smartphone, and video the drone and whatever it is doing. It is illegal to harm it, but the video will give you evidence against whoever is doing it, if the drone is involved in anything illegal. Mostly, they are harmless and innocuous.

FAA law says drones can’t be flown within a 5 mile radius of an airport. That’s almost the whole town here.

Did anyone else pick up on Janis adjusting her hair while making the ‘hunk on Walnut’ comment? First she’s freaked out, then she’s posing. Very JJ-like.

Get a BB gun and show it to the drone/operator. If the drone continues to violate your airspace and/or privacy… pop goes the weasel.

Arlo doesn’t seem concerned about the hunk that Janis has noticed. Arlo should listen to Janis better.

@BillyBobJohnson@Laynegg“You are only allowed to shoot down a drone if it poses an imminent threat to your safety”.*"It looked like it was carrying dynamite. I didn’t have time to wait.".I wouldn’t do it, but Stand Your Ground covers it..But one doesn’t even have to go that far unless a complaint is filed and proven.

All it took from me was a really good sling shot that I purchased from our local sporting goods store. I used steel pellets about a 45 cal size. I made sure they were watching my wife and over my property. The second shot shattered the lens on its camera and the third and fourth took out two rotors. It crashed into the street and got hit by a car. The jerk controlling it called the police and I and my wife said that we knew nothing about what happened to it. Then we asked to see his pictures. The dummy hadn’t put password protection on his Iphone and the police saw pictures of my wife. He got taken a way.

Now that Janis knows that she is being observed by Vinny the Voyeur she will buy a more revealing swim suit and wax eloquent.
