Janis, ya got kids that are good at raising stuff….Oh, and Arlo, you’re about to get a sharp elbow right where it hurts.

Even with the fertility ritual, they only have Gene. Must’ve been doing it wrong.

When we first bought our house we would plant vegetables every summer. Finally found the ones we liked and used and also grew here (peppers not so much). I figured out that cherry tomatoes (not the small egg ones now, real cherry tomatoes) were great for stir frying and such – freeze them, dump some frozen ones in the heated pan – they melt and cook and Roma tomatoes were great for tomato gravy (sauce) as cut the end off and the rest popped out for no skin cooking.

We would get a great crop towards the end of August. Unfortunately husband would get his vacation from work the second half of August so we were not here to harvest the vegetables. At first our solution was since his dad was coming by to check on the house, pick up mail, etc. we told him to take whatever was ripe and use it. Then his dad died. We come home to rotting vegetables, so we stopped planting them.

Does this ritual have anything to do with a full moon?

Speaking of rituals, my wife and I saw “Midsommar” yesterday afternoon. Wow. Talk about a weird movie that has one major connection to a prior weird movie…

“I notice,” says Marlow, “I didn’t have to work too hard to get you to agree.”

The fertility ritual was the right thing to do, or so I’ll tell my wife too.

The summer (garden) doldrums. Janis appears to be heat stressed. Looks like they need to reach back for a new old “Monday ritual.” Perhaps Janis would be rejuvenated.

My sister and our eldest daughter can grow cactus in a swamp. I kill snake plants.

I don’t know why, but any tree or bush we plant does well, but the ‘garden’ struggles. So, we have lots of berries, fruit and grapes.

Bag your grass clippings and till them into the dirt. If your neighbors bag theirs, till those in too. Next year you’ll have the best garden in your neighborhood. After your plants have a good start, mulch with more clippings to keep the weeds down, and till those in at the end of the season.

two of my friends field are thick and green, no sign of weeds. One chap has his swather out for winter wheat all ready. Pop up ad this morning was a deal on header inspection.

Arlo, next year try the fertility ritual on the plants… heh heh

Must be hot; Janis’ hair is limp.

Just raise ducks, rabbits and turkeys. That’ll enable you to grow just about anything.
