Puck: We're 4 hours into "Elvis watch". Here's Lupin with the latest. Lupin: Puck, I've scaled the Vegas Fir for a better view. Just gotta toss some junk out of the way- The Woman is leaving food out for Elvis. Puck: He always did like food. Tommy: Here we are! Home sweet home! Elvis: You live in a shed? Tommy: For now. Until someone finds me, then it's onto the next place! Anyway, it's a greenhouse! Roasty toasty! Elvis: Don't you have any people? Tommy: I did, once, but you've seen how that goes... I got outside, got spooked by a passing People-mobile, started running..before long, I was lost. So, I stick to this block now, but I try to make it cozy. Elvis: Don't you miss your people? Tommy: Oh, sure! I miss the little things the most. Sleeping at the end of a bed, having my ears scratched, hearing I'm a good boy... Would you like some leftover non-poisonous plants from breakfast? There's not much, but it always feels like more when you share... Elvis: Oh, no, I couldn't... Tommy: Let's get some shuteye then! You take the box. Elvis: But- Tommy: Is the box not small enough? Elvis: Oh, no, it's impossibly tiny, -thank you-, I just don't want to take your bed. Tommy: No worries, brother! I sleep on this old overcoat! My Woman had one just like it! Elvis: Oh! Ok- Tommy: Don't you worry, you're closer to home than you thing. Tomorrow morning, as soon as the snow lets up, we'll set out for your house. Elvis: I wonder what Puck and Lupin are doing. Probably all curled up, fast asleep by now. Man: Why are they so wired tonight? Woman: They probably miss Elvis.

Awwww Tommy! He’s so kind and adorable! I just love Puck in the last panel pouring coffee—as if to confirm that yes, they are wired and it’s going to be a loooong night ahead.

“Is the box not small enough?” “Oh no, it is impossibly tiny.” This is conversation gold right there. Brilliant.

Vegas fir, I love that description of the tree. This story arc is what totally hooked me on this strip

Can’t help but laugh about Puck pouring coffee in the last panel. I wonder if the Green House does actually belong to Tommy’s owners.

Lost is a horrible feeling.
Especially when you are at home and feeling lost.

The look of sadness on Tommy’s face in panel 13 is just too much!

@ShadowBeast: No, the shed Tommy’s in doesn’t belong to his woman. She’s not on that block. But stay with it—there are warm fuzzies to come.

I love how Tommy pulls the sleeve of that coat over his tummy – SO sweet!

Unbelievably adorable, as ever. So many little touches, the pylon tree, the box that is “impossibly tiny”, Elvis with his little elbows on the edge of the box, Lupin knocking some junk out of the way on the Vegas Fir. What I really cherish and admire is the artist’s ability to make a strip both poignant and funny, at once.

This is Georgia’s story-telling at its absolute best, and that’s saying something. To all the comments above — yes, yes and YES! Her ability to tell a story with two little strokes of a pen; her poignancy without being cloying; everything.
This also makes a wonderful point that I learned the hard way. Back during the Recessio-crash my husband and I were both unemployed, he for the second time in 18 months. Never happened before. I figured that was it — we’d lose everything, have to give away our dogs and books… the works. Then I adjusted my expectations of life. I went past losing everything and picked out the viaduct we’d live under. Suddenly everything was better. I changed my expectations and, like Tommy, began looking at how to make what I had “cozy.” To quote Georgia, “Breakdowns can wait. What we need now is stability.”

Cats are better off kept safe inside. If you must let them outside, be sure that they are microchipped so they can be returned to you if they become lost. Some people are MUCH too casual about being cat parents. We got our Jingle Belle Katt because someone moved away and left her to fend for herself, after picking her up as a small kitten and putting a collar on her to show she was “owned” rather than one of the local ferals. She ran after us crying for attention and food and jingling her little collar bell (hence the name). One we took her in she proved VERY friendly to humans, even makes up to strangers who come to our home. She doesn’t like other cats, however, probably because she had to compete with them for food.

Georgia has posted WONDERFUL news over on the BCN website. Click on Twitter there and scroll down. You can read it even if you’re not on Twitter (I know because I’m not on Twitter).

I too started to get teary-eyed reading this strip although I already know the storyline! The world would be a much better place if everyone was as generous and loving as Tommy!

Our lilac siamese disappeared overnight and we got NO sleep. Oue other two cats sat vigil by the back door and we drank all the coffee. At 6:30 the next morning she came shooting through a chink in the fence, and into the house at full speed. She had a tiny patch of fur missing just ahead of the base of her tail. We figured that she got trapped in a neighbor’s garage overnight, slept under the car, and when it started, she must have bee just under the drive belt. It literally buffed her fur off, and she was off like a shot for home.. She was one lucky girl.

I love Tommy hanging his little mittens up to dry! These babies are beyond adorable. My two favorite strips are Breaking Cat News and Ten Cats.

Georgia Tweets: BCN will be in newspapers in early 2017!
YEEEHAAAA
For those new to the strip—if the pitch for newspapers had failed, she’d not be able to keep doing the strip ‘cause she’d have had to get a job.
