Elvis, listen to Tommy. He’s the one who kept you safe in the storm and led you back home. He knows way more about plants than you do! He lived in a greenhouse.
Elvis cares too much about what plants think of him. (Also, if he calmed down for a second, he’d see that the plant’s ‘legs’ are made of smooth terracotta which is easy to push or kick over.)
Hi everyone – I’m a huge fan of BCN but haven’t commented here before (such a big fan that I knitted my own BCN cats). I’m also a big fan of the supportive community that has developed here so I thought I’d let folks know that my dearest friend and BCN’s biggest fan is going through a tough time right now. I will let her decide whether or not she wants to reveal herself, but regular comment readers know her. So for the next couple of days in particular, can you all wrap her in a big orb hug? Thanks everyone, and special thanks to Georgia for bringing us all into this community!
Well, I think Lupin has tried (and is now) leaving it alone. After, of course, not leaving it alone. Evidence would suggest at least one attempt at not leaving it alone.
Tommy’s advice is just silly. The plant has to know that it is subordinate to the boys. But Puck is right. Elvis’ current method isn’t working. He will have to find another way to teach the plant that it is doomed.
Some of us were talking yesterday about Lupin with a mustache. It’s from June 1st 2018 and is titled Serious cat does serious stuff. It follows the Fluffapurrus Rex arc that begins on May 28th. https://www.gocomics.com/breaking-cat-news/2018/06/01?ct=v&cti=1206437
Elvis: It tasks me; It heaps me; I see in It outrageous strength, with an inscrutable malice sinewing within.
P.S. For those of you who offered advise on McKayla and her fur issue, thank you. A full Vet visit was cost prohibitive but he offered some free advise. At 19 human years old, her old joints hurt a lot, especially around her hips, where she was pulling fur. We got some mild cat pain medicine and her fur issues have almost stopped.
Once, while backpacking in New Mexico, I decided to investigate the “pear” of a prickly pear cactus, and went about it with my usual hands-on approach to exploration. This quickly led to my discovery that the flowering portion of the plant is coated in an almost invisible layer of fine bristles that feel much like fiberglass insulation, only ten times worse.
Slightly off subject, but I work in garden retail and we sell cacti from small to medium size. Over the years or watching people interact with cactus, I noticed that grown men and little boys can not resist, touching them! I could be in the middle of the store and hear a loud,"OW!’ and I immediately know where it came from!
Elvis channeling his inner Bart Simpson! And on a totally unrelated note, what is it with cats and place mats?!? Sally just gave me the death stare because I had left stuff I’m sorting/organizing on the dining room table, and she couldn’t spend her morning laying on a place mat!
This is why I have no house plants! Our mini-spring is gone. Beautiful and sunny today, but we’ve gone from 60F to 36F and will be colder tomorrow. My three fur-boys have formed a cat comforter on me, pretty much full cozy coverage. Who needs those newfangled weighted blankets…
Good morning and happy Hump Day, orbsters and orbabies. Elvis, I foresee a session with the Woman and a pair of heavy duty tweezers or even pliers in your future! Yum Yum leaves our houseplants strictly alone, which is a good thing as I only have two, a snake plant and a philodendron, both of which are virtually unkillable. Which reminds me, I think I need to water them.
Yum Yum was very chatty this morning; she was meatloafing on the table and meowing at me. This went on for about an hour, until she got obviously frustrated with my lack of understanding this morning, gave me the death glare, and then turned her back to me and went to nap on Paul’’s lap. Obviously, I must have done something to aggravate her, but durned if I can figure out what it was.
I love the last panel of Elvis screaming NO!! I think Georgia should make individual panels of the gang into “stickers” for facebook messenger and text messaging. We need “Everything I do is Dignified”, this last panel for NO!! Need another one for YES!! One of Puck “On an Adventure”… One saying “Please” “Hi” “Hungry” “Bye” "ZZZzzzzz (with a sleeping cat) “Thanks”…etc. Just look thru any sticker pack on your phone for similar ones. But a BCN sticker pack would be the most awesome!!!

I came across this while working on some clutter. I’m sure that most of you have seen it, but here it is for those that haven’t…
~
The Old Lady and the Cat.
Cat was getting hungry,
Perhaps a bird or mouse?
Wasn’t getting close to that old woman’s house!
But then one day,
While the lady took a nap, Cat’s favorite place became,
The old woman’s’ lap.
Crackling fire – the smell,
Of baking bread.
Cat’s favorite place place became,
The old woman’s bed.
Miles and miles of land to roam,
But Cat’s favorite became the old women’s home.
~
I don’t know if the punctuation in woman’s’ is right, but that is how i have it.
I don’t know the author.

Whenever I find a plant with needles
My friend Tommy calls to me
With his words of wisdom “Let it be”
But though my nose is full of those spikes
This is no option to me,
I must show the plant who’s boss,
It will see.
Let it be
Let it be?
Not in my vocabulary,
I’ll be back tomorrow, wait and see!
