Is little Thimblefist always angry even when he is trying to be comforting? It would seem so. But at least he and Homestyle are trying to help. :) Poor brave little Bea.
“Trees are full of life” .So true. I used to visit Kew Gardens and in the park was a very large tree with headphones hanging down from the branches, you could hear a clicking sound as the sap was pumped up to the leaves.
Thimblefist is like me when dealing with some high tech gadgets I do not understand or most things that require some assembly like just about anything from Ikea….. ; Nonetheless the little one and “Homestyle” are doing their best to help and keep Beatrix company! Too bad the phone is likely out of charge but maybe Beatrix can get it to turn on one more time (especially if Thimblefist can’t find the “On” button) and then we see if the gang can find her via GPS.
I love little Homestyle ( wearing an original couture Homestyle tomato soup can…..LOOKING FANTASTIC!) is guarding Bea, fork in paw. BUT THIMBLEFIST IS NO SLOUCH COMFORTING BEA IN LAST PANEL They have proven themselves as excellent guardians.
Okay kitties and pooch…Its hero time. I am looking at all of you cats and the dog. Who is going to get the silly humans to go outside and see Bea in the tree? Elvis, you have proven you can get outside…Tommy of course you are a cat-about-town, Burt…you know your way around the old stone wall, and Tabitha…you are an Alpha-Female who caught the Red-Dot!.
One of you or some cat else needs to step up!
Don’t make the shoutmonk, Thimble-fist, come and find you!
“Trees are full of life” is just another iconic quote from BCN. One of them being “Boxes are never empty because they’re filled with adventure.” -Elvis
If only it were that simple to tap into the life that trees are full of, without harming them in the process. We could do away with more harmful energy sources.
International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone —Ozone is an ironic substance. It’s negative effects on life are severe (even plant life), but it shields the earth from too much UV radiation. In low concentrations it is a good disinfectant for inanimate objects, and a good way to remove the odor of smoke. Some wonder why, if human activities produce ozone, it doesn’t replenish the ozone layer. The reason is that ozone is so reactive that it is rapidly consumed near ground level.
National Stay Away from Seattle Day —It’s probably raining there, anyway, which leads to—
Wrinkled Raincoat Day —Which is most days in Seattle.
National Collect Rocks Day —Some wonder that, being a geologist, I don’t have a rock collection. I don’t need one—rocks are everywhere. Rocks are also heavy, and transporting them can be difficult. Rumors that I used it as ammunition are entirely false and groundless …
National Guacamole Day —Most appropriately, it is also Mexican Independence Day. “Guac,” as it is often called in the States, sounds like a duck with a bad head cold. There are over 27 cultivars of avocado, some producing fruit the size of your head, with pits the size of the typical store-bought avocados. Such monsters make a lot of guac. Pass the chips.
World Play-Doh™ Day —Why does it smell so delicious? Because it’s mostly flour, water, and salt, and the smell is close to that of baking bread. I suspect a fair amount gets eaten by small children. For those with dietary restrictions, it now has less salt.
National Cinnamon Raisin Bread Day —Toasted and slathered with butter. Not recommended as an accompaniment for guac or avocado, but may work with Play-Doh™.
How do you plug a phone into a tree unless the tree is really a cellphone tower that some idiot thought they could disguise by making it look like a tree.
One of the colony cats, Oliver, has been missing for over a week now. We think someone adopted him, but if they did, we wish that they would at least let us know. He’s a manx, so he won’t be grown up for a while longer. His mother, Jet, misses him very much. She tried washing one of the other cats. Ringsy was very tolerant of the washing, but she wants her baby back. The same thing happened with King. He’s been gone for over a couple of months. Again, if someone adopted him, at least let us know so we won’t worry about them.
Prayers and hugs for the Gulf Coast. If anyone hears from Bill Jackson in a sub-comment, please ask him to post a main comment so that we’ll know he’s okay. We’re thinking of you, Bill, and of everyone on the Gulf. xoxo

As sung by Mariah Carey: There’s a Hero
There’s a hero
If you see things with your heart
You don’t need to be afraid of where you are
Just have faith that
Things will turn out for the best
And that there will come more heros, too!
…….
And then more heroes come along
And give you strength to carry on
And they help you to survive
As you cast your fears aside!
And when you feel you can’t hold on,
Many heroes will be strong
And you finally see the truth,
All your hero friends and you!

how sweet! Thimbie & Homie have true hearts of gold – a silver lining?
Now if you feel that you can’t go on
Because all of your hope is gone
And your life has bad luck in profusion
Until happiness is just an illusion
And you’re afraid of tumblin’ down
Beatrix, reach out (come on child, reach on out for us)
Reach out (reach out for us)
We’ll be here, with care that will shelter you
We’ll be here, with a love that will see you through
We’ll be here to always get you through
When you feel stuck and really fed up
‘Cause your best just ain’t good enough
And you feel trapped and gettin’ cold
And you’re ruing goin’ out on your own
And you need a paw to hold
Beatrix, reach out (come on child, reach out for us)
Reach out (reach out for us)
We’ll stay here, to love and comfort you
And we’ll stay here, to watch over and care for you
We’ll stay here, to love and comfort you
And we’ll be here, you can always depend on us ❤️
