“Newt was still in control of his own mind enough to do the proper translation. When most people said ’I’m psychic, you see’, they meant ‘I have an overactive but unoriginal imagination/wear black nail varnish/talk to my budgie’.”
(from Good Omens, by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. This quote is on page 215 of my fancy illustrated edition, in honor of the TV miniseries, and 229 of my straightforward mass market paperback, the 2006 reprint with the black cover, both of which I have on hand – your pagination may vary. My third copy, a different edition entirely, is either at my mom’s house or has been borrowed by my brother.)
I’m not wasting my time on this, and I’m sure Elvis isn’t, either. Undoubtedly he is working on a fact-based, hard-hitting report on the evil collusion between shelves and drawers.
The gang reminds me of my Grandmother’s house back in the ’70s. She had a sewing circle that she belonged to from her church. They used to watch “Days of our Lives”, “Search for Tomorrow” and “The Edge of Night” on one of those giant old RCA console TVs that could play ’78 records and occasionally would need a vacuum tube which my Dad would get from the local Eckerd Drugs or Radio Shack and install himself. Those retired ladies did not get much knitting done and spent a lot of time yelling at the bad guys on the tube.
Speaking of soaps in the ’70s: by this time Dark Shadows was off the air except in reruns if you were lucky but I remember watching it with my youngest and oldest sister after kindergarten and first grade as my Mom was still working at the time and my older teenage sis was appointed babysitter and thus the defacto ruler of the TV so no cartoons on WTOG for us if Barnabus and the Crew was on! Now that show scared the daylights out of me. I miss those days as well as my grand ma and her wonderful house…….
Agnes-Ata: Oh, I see a few of our friends are here.
Iron-Glove: Adobe-Style and I are working with Sophititi and Maat-Tilda on a project for our queens.
Agnes-Ata: Welcome. I’m doing a bit of investigation here. Have any of you heard of a cat called Dr. Sneaky-Glove.
Iron-Glove: What? He had the nerve to steal my family’s good name?
Agnes-Ata: You’ve heard of him?
Maat-Tilda: Oh yes. My siblings and I went to school with him. He was Stealth-Mitt then.
Agnes-Ata: What was he like then?
Maat-Tilda: For one thing, he stole my senior project. I had made mittens for my brother and sister and me. He stole them, and as a result none of us got any pie for graduation.
Agnes-Ata: That’s awful. We have to find him and make him pay.

Thomios: Here’s one thing I can make right. I’ve made my famous Kibble Pie.
For everyone not completely sold on Paisley’s psychic claims – don’t forget Sybill Trelawney, a psychic who seldom got it right, but when she did, it was a ZINGER! (Paisley makes me think of a Cyndi Lauper/Sybill Trelawney cross.)
This morning I received a call, actually two calls, a text and an email, that my cat Mcintosh (AKA Mac) was found. Which I found strange since I was looking at him. I also later got a call from the place that had the found cat and told them it wasn’t my cat since my cat was home safe and sound. I didn’t ask them if they were sure they had the right number or not. I called my vet and they have a scanner, though I am not sure I want to put Mac through the trauma of going to the vet just to have his chip scanned. They are both due for shots in a couple of months or so and I might just wait until then. I am not real worried about him getting out and escaping, he doesn’t show much interest in going out and now with the weather being colder I am not opening the slider as much, which is the most likely way he would escape. I am more concerned for the cat that was actually lost if the number was really correct from its scan.
National Pets for Vets Day: I don’t think there is anyone in this bunch who doesn’t know how therapeutic pets can be. If you can, visit a shelter and donate the adoption fee for a vet. There are few better ways of saying, “Thank you for your service.”
Celebration of the Mind Day: If you haven’t lost it, celebrate it!
Reptile Awareness Day: With the elections coming up, how can anyone not be aware of reptiles …
Global Dignity Day: Personified by the Paragon of Dignity, Elvis.
International Day of the Nacho: “Nacho, nacho man! Nacho, nacho man! I want to eat nachos!”
It ain’t easy being a cat. He gets to stay another day and night. His bladder is not completely draining. Apparently when the bladder has been extended during a blockage some cats have a muscle problem in that the body reduces or stops squeezing to get the urine out.
The major issue here is that the kidney and liver values remain elevated because the bladder is retaining too much urine.
Vet is searching for the correct medication to stimulate that specific muscle group. Not a common occurrence so none of the close in vets have any on the shelf. She hopes to find a supply today so they can get him started ASAP. But he will have to stay overnight again and get retested once the meds kick in.

Imagine spirits blue, I do
I think about them day and night, it’s only right
To think about the ghosts I feel with second sight
So happy whenever
If I should conjure them up, invest my time
They’ll say they’re restless, but feelin’ fine
Imagine how the spirit world could be so sublime
So happy forever
I can see me doin’ the mystic things I do
For all my life
Since I’m psychic, baby, the Tarot’ll be true
For all my life
Me and brews and brews and me
No matter how I burn the sage, it had to be
The only time for me is deja vu, again for me
So happy whatever
