My project for today is to write a poem about hot dogs. Actually, on closer inspection, there is a “found” haiku.

Now I’m imaging Ora Zella competing at Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Hot doggone it. Me has never eats or even seen one yet.

Leave it to OZ to chow down on the hot dog.

Talpi Mole: We have round potatoes for the first time. Who wants to play a game of Lawn Potato?

Burt-Ra: I’ve got the grill ready. Take it away, Thomios!

Thomios: Alright. Who wants a burger and who wants a hot dog?

Puckmosis: I like the idea of a hot dog. It is a concept of meat unlike any other.

Thomios: Do you want me to grill you one?

Puckmosis: Perhaps. And a cheeseburger with bacon, please.

Wasn’t there a strip from back in the day where Elvis was grossed out by hot dogs? I may be confusing it with another food that otherwise offended (salad) or confused them (cranberry space goo).

Hot dog comes

Puck is a poet himself!!

What you may ask, is a hot dog. Well I will tell you. A hot dog is made up of chicken and pork lips and @$$holes ground up and stuffed into a casing. The good hot dogs use animal intestines for the casing where the cheaper ones use a collagen casing. If there is ever a collagen shortage for hot dogs, Kim Kardashian will be there to save the world. Now my pretty little kitties, eat that hot dog.

Brilliant, Puck! This is how I am describing hot dogs from now on! No People in sight, they should certainly have known better than to leave food unattended around these cats.

What is a hot dog?

I’m more of a bratwurst person myself.

The last frame reinforces my assertion. A lawn potato does not stand a chance against an Ora Zella.

Edible? Maybe, just maybe.

I admit a fondness for dog-shaped food, and not just because I love dogs. I think it’s that, if I make a sandwich, it doesn’t seem complete without a bunch of stuff on it – lettuce, tomato, cheese, usually onion, etc., plus condiments; but with a dog, just that on a bun with minimal condiments is just fine. I regularly grill mass quantities, and freeze them to reheat later. Right now I have Angus beef, andouille, chicken caprese, several kinds of Johnsonville (the hot dog sized ones), as well as veggie dogs – mostly Simple Truth or Lightlife (I think they’re really the same), which are as good as many hot dogs and much healthier; though I usually put more toppings on them than meat ones. Veggie chili works great!

Once I was in the grocery, and when I went to the hot dog buns, there was a woman standing in front of them, staring. She turned to me and asked, “Do you see any bun-length buns? I bought some bun-length hot dogs, and am looking for bun-length buns to go with them.”

Not wanting to hurt her feelings, I (barely) managed to keep from laughing. I often wonder if she ever did figure out that ALL buns are bun-length, they just started making bun-length hot dogs because most hot dogs are shorter than the buns they sell!

I have lived in South Carolina for a year now and I still have not figured out where the state’s obsession with hot dogs comes from, but man, these folks are crazy for hot dogs! I prefer the all-beef version myself.

For those who are new and for those of us who loved Georgia’s version of the musical, Hamilton, it starts July 3rd 2019. Gasp, can’t believe it’s been 4 yrs already!

I love a good hot dog, I don’t care what they are made of!!!

Mmm, I love me some hot dogs. Especially when they are roasted.

We all know that a hot dog is a delivery vehicle for condiments.

Our cats won’t eat hot dogs, cooked or raw. Even the 100% beef. Little snobs.

I’ll be having that for dinner! Our supermarket was having a hot dog fundraiser. But it was too early to eat it. I’ll reheat it later.

Don’t worry. If it’s not good food, you can always throw it up on the carpet later.

Today is Bartholomew Day! One year ago we found this long-legged, bat-eared gremlin and brought him home. He has grown into quite an excellent house panther.

When it comes to eating hot dogs, ignorance is indeed bliss.

Want to turn this into a knock-down, drag-out, free-for-all fight? Have someone ask “is a hot dog a sandwich?”

Well folks, you’ve inspired me. I sent the spouse-shopper off to get vegetarian hot dogs. No, they aren’t as good, but I can eat them without content-anxiety. I like to reserve my saturated fat and cholesterol intake for ice cream and chocolate candies. I’ll be making some potato salad too.

I remember the “old days” when you were allowed to take tours through hot dog plants to see how they were made. The old days were good.
