“Space forks” would be less expensive, and similarly necessary to our national well-being.

Giving it all the seriousness it deserves.

So let’s see, we need to be able to detect and deflect any objects on a collision course with the USA or any of our allies. Not bad, put THAT in the budget.

@DAVIDHUIE: The TOTUS just announced that the EU is a ‘foe’ of the US. So apparently we don’t need to worry about deflecting objects on a collision course with our allies, since our other former allies (like Canada) have already been discarded, and our new competitor/ally can take care of itself…

Yeah, yeah… Let’s spend money on a plan that can’t currently work, would cost billions and take decades to develope, would be used to protect us from enemies that pretty much can’t do what he claims they can and haven’t proven themselves capable of being a threat, and could never be used as a first strike capability. Nope. Never. Honest. You can trust me. (Are they still looking at Russian influence? They are?) We need this Space Farce or you know what? They will get us! Who? Why THEM of course. THEM! (Are they still looking at Russian influence? They are!? Damn)… Don’t pay any attention to that little man behind the curtain…

According to a number of news sources, Marine Lt. Gen. Jim Mattis (now Secretary of Defense), said in 2005, he wanted to create a “space force” for the USMC, but not in the way you think. He wanted them to be able to respond to threats worldwide in a few hours by being deployed in sub-orbital vessels.

Funding for Space Force will be provided by giving more tax cuts to the wealthy.

There is at least one worse idea. In weightlessness, a space fork would be a heckuva lot more useful than a space spoon.
