As long as none of them builds a killbot to do its work.

I expected one of them to say, “And to do my work for me, I hired Winky.”

This comics arc is my biggest fear. Robots begetting robots. Mil spec range on robots far exceeds human tolerances. A good robot can last thousands of years with regular oil changes and regular spark plug replacement…..

I fear this will lead to replication error. The last generation will be a defective waving cat.

The robot is just like the creator except (it appears) without the regret.

The last robot down the line, “Since there were no more parts to build an AI robot to do MY work, I hired Brewster.”

AI is popular because there’s such a shortage of the real thing.

It going toward the future. There are already AIs who can create code (not to mention articles and images). It is only a short step to AIs which create more powerful AIs (I don’t say more intelligent).

Recently software developers and ethicists have become aware of the need for AIs which are not “black boxes” with unknown workings. There is a strong movement now for AIs which must “show their work”. Otherwise, we will be “ruled” by AIs with less understanding of humans than the ancient Greek gods.

My big fear is non-caring AIs rather than “malevolent” ones.

Should have included a desire to actually do some work somewhere along the way.
