Some people prefer doing things old school. If it wasn’t for Nintendo switch online, we’d replay our favorites or even play the games we missed out on.
This is the same Calvin who blathered on about what a busy guy he is, and only wants to get where he’s going, so he can’t be bothered with the journey.
“Quantity has a quality all it’s own.” This is a Russian quote, and it applies in most situations when you just need something to work long enough to reach your objective. Once the objective is achieved you can afford to be objective about your tools.
As this coincides with Watterson changing the format of his Sunday strips, Calvin’s comments on making a snowball could be meta statement on his own medium.
I bet chefs always wonder the same thing too. But the better question is, why make such magnificent sculptures out of food when they’re going to get eaten anyway? Why waste so much energy on something that will simply disappear forever? People can take pictures, but the real, physical art will forever be gone.
Don’t forget, Calvin, to take time to put dimples all over your snowball for better aerodynamic accuracy. That way Suzie will nail you while you’re not even ready to call her!

The secret isn’t in the snowballs.
It’s in the strength and accuracy of the thrower; qualities Susie has and Calvin doesn’t.

Superb, as always. Calvin, the extemporaneous philosopher – he develops his theories on the most recent examples.

So while Calvin was blathering on, Susie was busy building her arsenal…and we see what the end result was!

Watterson loved messing with the panel layout on Sundays so the newspapers couldn’t chop up his strip and take out the first 2 panels.
