Now you know why Thanksgivings turn out the way they do.

It’s all relative.

How do you understand a kid with an overactive imagination as well as vocabulary skills, yet still can’t do a decent job at school?

THIS IS MY LIFE! No one I am related to likes me at all. It is because I am gay. They let their religion determine if I am likable or not, not the person I actually am.

So I had to create a family myself, and they are all pretty damn loyal to me.

That lack of understanding is created by the miracle called conception

The whole world doesn’t understand you, Calvin.

Calvin, this is one of those valuable lessons in life. Nobody understands you!

In the end, Calvin – relations are relative.

Common problem, especially now.

I was like Calvin as a kid. Active imagination (no, I did not have a stuffed tiger). By high school, my math and science grades became all A’s. I became an engineer at NASA. Seriously. Don’t underestimate the value of an active imagination.

If you think things are bad now, Calvin; wait until you hit the teen years!

Said pretty much every kid ever. I certainly did. Repeatedly.

When I realized that I was the one in the family who was more brilliant, better looking and destined to be most successful I became aware of an indisputable conclusion. I WAS ADOPTED!

We all are. At least somewhere in the blood line timeline we lose connection. Maybe it’s for the best.

It’s incomprehensible why people generally seem unable to figure this out, but there is absolutely no reason why a genetic relationship should provide a basis for any other kind of relationship.

Calvin’s “Theory of Relativity” is born.

I can certainly relate to that!

@rugeirn Ah, the reason is it’s in our genes which only survive because we favor our children and other close relatives. Genes are all powerful, but stupid beyond the meaning of the term.

Think of your body as a survival robot for your genes.

Einstein had a theory about relatives.

And, Calvin, they don’t relate to you.

As is said, you can choose your friends, but not your relatives…

I feel like Calvin’s last line here is just a fact of life.

Beyond the fact that Calvin is a fictional character, he’s what? Six? What six-year-old loves doing schoolwork?

And he isn’t even a teenager yet.

I was a black sheep for 2 reasons, not getting married at age 20 and being adopted. Also being weird. Ok, that’s 3 reasons

I am sure the feeling is mutual. That is why parents should love their children unconditionally. Involved parents train their children up in the way to go.

Of course your parents drive you crazy. They drive you everywhere because you aren’t old enough to get a drivers license.

There should only be one set of footprints. Unless…

Calvin may have a large vocabulary and hyperactive imagination, which is what his parents sorely lack.

Seek to understand then be understood.

Look at the footprints made by you and compare with parents. You will be surprised to whom you are related, young lad.
