My Algebra teacher would give us the answers. all we had to do was show the work to get to that answer. made sense. wasted energy to solve and get an incorrect answer.
Spontaneous combustion! I don’t think he’s ever tried that excuse before. It’s certainly as plausible as all his other alibis. (Insert proper sarcasm emoji here)
For some reason I read and always believed that Bill Watterson was African-American and that he now lives in Cincinnati. Yesterday while watching a documentary, I found that grew up in Chagrin Falls Ohio and now he lives in a suburb of Cleveland. Although they did not say, his picture seems to be Caucasian. Does anyone have any information on where the erronious information came from? He did work for the Cincinnati Post at one time, but not sure if he actually lived there.

I’m sure after checking Calvin’s homework, miss Wormwood would’ve done exactly that.

This always reminded me of the Procrastination episode of SpongeBob. Is your homework catching on fire a common nightmare in real life?

So that’s why Calvin never cares to do his homework. All that wasted effort.

A disturbing dream I often have is working a spread sheet on the computer, and the numbers keep moving around, and none of the keys work to stop it!!!

Spontaneous combustion? Or just wishful thinking on Calvin’s part?
I bet it was Hobbes who did the work—and deliberately wrote in wrong answers.

Why do I get the feeling that the last panel should say “to be continued”?

You need to know math in order to set the timer on the self-destruct mechanism properly.

Next, the smoke probably sets off the smoke detectors, the school is evacuated, and Calvin takes a bow.

I love the shadowing in Panel #4. If I’m Bill Watterson, that made drawing this strip more fun.
