I gotta wonder what Dad’s real reaction would be if Calvin really ran away. I admit that Mom might be somewhat concerned.

He has a persecution complex!!!

It went into the ditch the last time.

Once when I was a kid my mother went to a conference with my teacher. I waited on the playground but I couldn’t even play because I was so worried about what the teacher was telling her. When she came to get me I asked how it went and she growled “We’ll talk about it at home!” I knew I was in for it.

Remember to take those famous sandwiches…..

Report card days were the worst. My brother found my 8th grade card while cleaning my deceased parents’ house. 13 F’s!! I’m not stupid, hated school. When I had to get a degree for a job later in life, I graduated with a 3.75 GPA!

Well Calvin, you cannot claim innocence for your actions when you’re packing up to leave before your mother gets home from the parent/teacher conference…that action in itself is an admission of guilt!

In today’s world if a teacher tells a parent anything less than stellar about their child the teacher is likely to get sued, reprimanded or otherwise abused. Lots of parents like to blame the teacher if the kid gets a bad grade, and also blame the teacher for ruining the kid’s future prospects. Too many participation trophies, too little accountability.

Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time!

Looks like he keeps his suitcase already packed.

Who’s at home with him right now?

Cal clearly recognizes that once Mom talks to Ms Wormwood, his self-proclaimed championship classroom behavior will have earned a somewhat less attractive title. Time to take a hike.

So, Calvin is home alone?

Is he remembering the noodle incident?

A cop on his beat notices a little boy with a suitcase walking by him. A little while later he sees the boy again. This happens several more times. The cop asks the little boy “where are you going” The boy replies “I’m, running away from home”The cop says “but you’re just running around the block”The boy says " yes, mom won’t let me cross the street."

You might think you will, but you won’t get out of this one too easily.

LOL… Calvin knows he is in BIG trouble.

This is why my students did Student-Led conferences. I told them my job was to make sure they were honest.

Calvin has delusions about what he’s done. Miss Wormwood is not happy; but still …

I totally identify with Calvin. I dreaded my father returning from a parent-teacher conference.

It IS funny to see Calvin learn that his actions have consequences. After all, he’s only 6, so it tracks that he was operating under the idea that if his parents don’t directly see it he could get away with whatever he did.

On the road again , gee its great to be back on the road again !

Our daughter is a speech pathologist. She used to work for a school district. One of the things that motivated her to become an independent contractor was the number of meetings with parents about their child’s treatment plan where the parents brought a lawyer. It was she and the principal vs. parents and lawyer.

Well, get yourself a sandwich before you go.

That’s how I felt, when we heard about parent/teacher conferences. I had undiagnosed ADHD, and though ADHD had been discovered in the mid-50’s, I wasn’t officially tested until last year. Then, it was just out of curiosity.
