Ned: No matter what happens, you stay unflappable, Eddie... How do you manage that? Eddie: Enlightenment. I adopted a philosophy of elegant simplicity, but it takes a lot of disciplined practice to fully undahstand. "Everybody have fun tonight, everybody want chung tonight." Flo: By "disciplined practice" he means bourbon. Ned: Got it. Thanks. Eddie: Oh, anothah one is, stay away from children. The'ah just little germ factories...

Eddie’s cat makes me think of how Garfield would look if he lost weight.

You know, he’s in Maine…So it can’t be that hard to get good whiskey from Canukistan…They make the best whiskey by far…."Cept maybe Jack…..My dad used to drink bourbon, so I’m kinda out on a limb here….

Panel three….I love the way Pauly is looking at the viewer…It’s either the song Eddie’s singing or he caught a whiff of what the good captain is smokin’…Hey, he and Flo were both at Woodstock….

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody, a holiday which can test your flappability level. And always keep a cat around. If nothing else, they can provide a model of unflappability for you to emulate.

didn’t Fraser Crane have that same philosophy on Cheers 20 years ago?

Happy, happy, happy Thanksgiving.

I’ll second (and third) Eddie’s final bit of advice. I work in a school, was looking forward to having Thanksgiving week off (especially with fairly mild weather predicted), and am instead spending the week moping around with a lousy head cold, courtesy of the little darlings in the classroom.
Oh well… it’s hot toddy time again (where’s the bourbon, Eddie?)

Some people have a philosophy of, since we’re all gonna die anyway, why not die having fun, thus making dying fun!

Sounds something like what the Czechs call ‘pohoda’, which is something like satori or nirvana only you don’t attain it by meditation or ascetic practices but by drinking just the right amount of beer. Master pohodists can, by proper pacing of the raising of their elbows, sustain the state for many hours.

Cap’n is just channeling his inner William Claude Dunkenfeld. “A man who hates dogs and little kids can’t be all bad.” Personally, I do like dogs.

As to the question of whether the best whisk(e)y comes from Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Kentucky, Tennessee, or whatever, I agree with Andre Simon when he was asked whether the best wine comes from Bordeaux or Burgundy, “I don’t know, but I should be glad to spend the rest of my life researching the question.”

Maple syrup is the real secret if you’re flapable. Just try to flap a Vermonter.

I prefer Scotch Whiskey myself. However the route to Nirvana is similar. Of course, as with any path to true enlightenment, you may stumble more than once…

I usually avoid sick people (including kids) and never took a flu shot before this year. As I plan 2 long plane trips in Dec and Jan I got a flu shot yesterday.

Kentucky sipping whiskey, straight up, that’s the only one. We used to sit on the porch passing the bottle; and eventually someone would get up to take a leak and fall over the railing into the rose bushes…them wuz the good times…Kids? Look on any prescription medicine bottle and chances are it’ll say, “Keep Away From Children.” Good advice.

@DAZZ I’m guessing you’ve tried Hendricks Gin? There’s also a really interesting one from Wisconsin called Deaths Door.
