Goat: Hey, Pig. I'd like you to meet my friend, Alex. He's just back from college, where's a Communications major. Pig: What does a Communications major study? Rat: How to be unemployed. Goat: No. Pig: Hey! We can teach you that!
It depends on what sort of engineering job you are after, and how you present yourself. I’m a EE with 25 years experience, supposedly too old to easily find any job, but the last time I put my resume on the net I was hired in six weeks.
Nephews that showed no interest in “traditional” college did their 4 years in apprentice programs for Sheet Metal/Welding and Ironworking/Welding.. Got paid for it and now can pick and choose jobs with earnings of roughly $80K per year..Everyone needs their own path.
A less-than-compelling Communications grad: he says nothing. He doesn’t even have a mouth, it seems. “Non-communicative.” Rat is his usual negative self. Only Pig can find the ironic positive note!
Oddly, one of the recent presidents of our college had his Phd. in Communications, and by some accounts was a pretty good president… not that I’m suggesting that as a career plan.

I want Pig’s face in the last panel on a shirt. Priceless.

The “communications” major doesn’t say a word…I guess he’s already learned that nobody can really have a conversation with Rat in the room.

Seriously, what sort of career does one intend to have when he majors in Communications?

Speaking from experience, Communications am harder than it look.

Since so many student athletes have always had communications as a major, I just figured it was them learning how to read and write.

I once congratulated a PhD major in philosophy on his ability on graduation to accept his unemployable.
