Ms Manezon stepped onto the stage right out of 1957. Whoo Hoo! What a dish!I’m happy for Tiff, she seems to have found a place. But enough of the drama camp drama, already! What about the restaurant o wheels, or the upcoming wedding?
Oh, Yeah, I forgot. They never move forward in life in this comic strip.
Oh well.

C’mon Guth, be a sport and give Tiff 50cents for a pic!

Extremely hard to believe Tiff sold only one pic. Proof that her parents and Crystal weren’t there. Well, she’ll buck up. She has a lead in a play to add to her resume, and will pick up the picture frame gig (I hope). Also hard to believe that Quill can’t stay any longer—you’d think he’d have a bit of extra time at the end of camp to unwind, hang with Lu and all that. Unless he has to hasten home to go back to school himself? Stuck in a time warp, forever a senior, never to graduate, he and Luann can Skype throughout eternity, world without end. The end.

Well, Quill’s taking it all in good graces. Besides, better to have him here instead of over the phone.

So,. now it’s off to the Airport for Qcumber, tomorrow….and the whole thing ends “not with a bang, but a whimper”….Mostly from Lu….
kfccanada over 11 years ago
Quill may not be staying long enough but…..at least he showed up and was focused on Luann. Her parents and Quill seem much more comfortable with each other, too.
I’d really like to see Tiff meet someone who’d be good for her and help her become more down to earth. Maybe she and the rest of the gang should volunteer for Habitat for Humanity over the summer and go on a build and meet more teens their own age from other countries. That could lead to exciting adventures.
There’ll have to be some such story line to entice Quill to come back to America to visit Luann, won’t there?

Absolutely.

Wrap party! Cast and crew only! How humiliatingly good for the Tiffster that only her arch-rival bought an over-priced pic!And how quick a finale to the Drama Camp arc, with a rather mature Quill pal to Frank and on the brink of departure, if he isn’t drowned in the tears of the Wailer Luann. —And a special farewell! to Melodee Manezon: I like you, even if most others here seem not to!
gkid over 11 years ago
An interesting character, Ms. Manezon. She has the personna of an older moviestar, with glamour, and drama…which fitsreally, with what she is doing. Don’t seemuch glamour nowadays, in movie starsor elsewhere.

Quill doesn’t seem particularly broken up about leaving. I suppose we still ave time for Tiffany to do her picture frame modeling job before school starts. Lu Ann can spend the rest of the summer as productively as she has spent it so far, namely wasting it.

If Luann did buy one, you know she’s going to deface it.

I’m glad that Greg didn’t stretch this out for another week. It was very satisfying. And we got to see Quill knock Tiffany down a peg.

buccaneer8 over 11 years ago
We did see Tiffany get knocked down (but not out, unfortunately), so all this was quite satisfying. Now to find a way for Quill to stay…
sjsczurek over 11 years ago
Yeah. In 1957, money was actually worth something (even though I was only 2). And a college degree actually got you something. And $10,000 per year was a big salary. Those were the days, huh?

The first time I heard about Mae West was when I went skydiving.

I worry for Tiff. She keeps going all in and losing. This portends of a sad and tragic life. I was hoping Greg would give her a chance to at least fail in a more sophisticated and hopeful way. But its the gutter. Has to get the guy. Strike One. Has to sell her photos. Strike two. Humiliated after personal competition with Luann. Strike three. After her talented performance, someone would have bought her photos. She’d be the star to someone in that audience. Ok. I give in – let’s keep this at the comic strip level.

Geez, camp went awfully fast (in comic strip time). I guess I was wrong when I though the camp was for the whole summer. It must have only been a week or two.

Tiff’s photo repricing reminds me of the discount hooker, LoLo Price. After handing over her nightly take of $350.10, when asked “Who gave you the dime?” she answered, “They all did.”

So this far into the arc and no-one’s noticed that Manezon and this drama camp is kinda like Barbizon?
Barbara McKibben over 11 years ago
I don’t know where you lived in 1957 but my parents bought a new home in a Chicago suburb for $19,000. and sold their old one for about $12,000. That $2300. was CLOSER to the cost of a new Chevy Belair.

He is too busy talking to Frank and Luann is just being emotional.

Not surprising that Tiffany purchased herself a bunk at drama camp… I wonder which fool bought her the spot (bad investment)… on the other hand, with her “friends with benefits” crack to Quill — I wonder what she sold…

It’s wrapped up, and I’m so glad the drama camp story makes sense now. 500 people applied to the camp, which put on a play that was written and conceived by grade schoolers.-Yeah, that’s totally what drama means. Well played.

I hope Luann had Tiff sign her picture: “To Quill, I’ve enjoyed working with you as a professional. Sincerely, Tiffany.” That would be everything in perspective, and if Tiff did it, it would mean she’s learned to adapt.

Hi JPuzzleWhiz,You are welcome. Glad I could help.

Short trip for Quill…too bad the DeGroots are everyday people…it would be a great story arc to have Luann visit him in Australia. Lots of drama from Luann as expected. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop on Tiff…

“… Ms. Allison and the school gang, the firefighters, mom and dad, and all off them were at the airport when Quill took off and they sang, “Na-na-na-na, Na-na-na-na, Hey Hey, Goodbye””^I could think of a couple of other songs to go with it for them to sing, with the “goodbye” theme….. maybe even the way that “M*A*S*H*” did it…. all spelled out on the ground, etc…. ==Only thing though: I don’t imagine that Lu will want to be there to say goodbye… if today was any indication…..
JayBluE over 11 years ago
“Perhaps she will have Tiff go in her place…”^That’s a thought… and maybe that thought will snap her back into calmness…it probably should…. lol!==I think too, she probably cashed in her last "generosity " card when she bought Tiff’s photo…
JayBluE over 11 years ago
If not the drama scolarships, what about the tried and true story formula about the “drama” of Quill being able to go to an arts specialty college (Juliard, NY Conservatory, etc.) though Lu may not be able to?…. unless they go the ol’ SC (USC) route…….
JayBluE over 11 years ago
“The 789”, you say? Looks like Batman going through his “Blue period”…. like a cross between the Lincoln Continental that they used for the show, and the original “Batmobile” from the “Detective Comics” issues…..

" prototype of a 1956 Pontiac Firebird "^At least the hubcaps have a simple design, ha ha! Makes me think that the engineers had to calculate in terms of “drag coefficient”… the staff at El Segundo (“Hot Wheels”) would have had their work done for them with this one… Maybe even J.L….==at least the hood “spoiler” does have the “Firebird” shape….
JayBluE over 11 years ago
Now that chassis seems to have the “right stuff”… really! Seems to come closer to “sleekness” and whatever engine specs it may have… and instead of “Eddie Bauer”, it could have “Chuck Yeager” on it….
