I use the 9 minutes it takes to brew coffee to drink some water. My morning coffee is measured out and wrapped up tight in a baggie (I want it as fresh as possible) and the maker set up the night before. I keep a container or filtered water ready at all times. (The Pur water filter is too slow when waiting for coffee, and the container pours quickly.) All I have to do is dump the baggie of coffee into the cone, pour the water, and turn on the maker. I sometimes pour the water the night before, but I’m really not that impatient.
Buy a Bunn coffeemaker. Three minutes and a freshly brewed pot of coffee. I usually let it set and steep for about 10 minutes, but if I were in that big of a hurry, well what’s three minutes?
I use the Keurig red plastic manual cup that I fill with great coffee from those little 11 oz plastic bags when I run out of the little cups. The brewing is the same and the coffee is way cheaper but tastes great. Starbucks at home on a Keurig makes for a nice start.
I recently discovered a way to get a consistent grind from a blade grinder! Just hold the grinder in one hand and gently bump the grinder with the palm of your other hand every couple of seconds while it’s grinding. It breaks the momentum of the larger chunks, sending them back towards the bottom.
never heard of a coffee maker that wasn’t like an alarm clock in you set it once and it turns on at the set time even if there is no water or grounds. i mean you don’t have to set you alarm clock every day. last year this time they were all stoked about Gene graduating from college but since he died they have forgotten him and have not made one trip to the coast to visit the grave.
If you haven’t tried Komodo Dragon, get thee to a Starbucks soon. It isn’t sold in the 12oz “grocery store” bags, which are usually considerably cheaper, or I would buy it more often. It is a little more subtle, which allows one to get a more nuanced flavor.
“Why didn’t Arlo check it himself before bed?”-Because some (all?) women are offended if you check behind them. Even the best wife in the world chews you out if you check behind her and it doesn’t matter if it wasn’t done. Better to suffer.
Not a problem with my wife and me. She is the coffee drinker (I prefer the noble drink from China), so she is totally responsible for fixing the coffee.
I don’t mind waiting a bit for my morning coffee if it wasn’t set up the night before. The problem I have is how to make coffee before I’ve had my coffee.

Setting the timer means you have to know exactly when you will get up, or it won’t be fresh.

What’s up with this strip? Is Jimmy using it to say something to his significant other and foregoing humor to make his point?

And that’s whole bean, home-ground.

Don’t set the timer. The anticipation makes the coffee tastes better.

“Keurig….”
I was just going to say that, Jim, and then saw your comment. Must have been upward-reaching esp, or something.
