It’s bad enough when GT pushes his liberal views on us, but a week of mail reading is just hogwash!

When did Mark get white hair anyway? Yeah, I know Mike is getting white around the temples anyway……Maybe it was his experience living with Chase…

A question for everybody concerning trolling on discussion pages like this, or even more so pages that are actually serious public forums (fora?) as on news sites, rather than humor sites. Some places allow their discussion pages to be complete free-for-alls where rational and polite discussion mixes with sociopathy, paranoia, hatefulness, venom, and simply strongly held contrary views. Other places mediate the discussion by not posting comment that are abusive or off-topic. At least one place posts everything, but requires that the posting be made under the real name and town of the poster, so that those who make nasty comments cannot at least do so behind a mask of anonymity. Do any of you who happen to read this have an opinion about this? The online environment is not like a newspaper or a public forum. It is not Hyde Park Corner, nor a community bulletin board, nor the “letters” section of the Times. It is something NEW, and is not actually like the things that we metaphorically compare it to. Just a thought.

Besides, commenting on Mallard Fillmore is no fun, nobody’s reading it, so no one will see your “witty” remarks. Although if there were witty or erudite remarks, then at least there might be something funny or intelligent on the Fillmore comic page.

I have this image in my head of a cartoon… maybe Harry Bliss… with Hobbs on a Shrink couch complaining about living with an adolesent for over 40 years.

Speaking of genetic, I’ll be more precise, it’s my observation that men with Scottish ancestry often keep their hair and go grey very late in life. Zonker is probably a Scottish-American. I just visited someone, I hadn’t seen in 10 years, and at 87 he still has a partly brown, full head of hair. I remarked, “You must be Scottish,” and he smiled, “Yes I am.”

Just ignore, just ignore, just ignore…

I’m trying to make that my mantra on the comics page.

It’s kinda funny— I read Bizarro (http://www.arcamax.com/thefunnies/bizarro) on a different site (would love to see it here) and I frequently want to comment on the subject of the cartoon. But there are always a couple of dozen comments by members of a clique that count the icons the artist hides in the cartoons and then write their own stories about them. Nobody comments on the content. Frustrating.

Zonker has been the most stress free character of the Doonesbury family. While his skin should look like leather from his sunbathing tourney days, his interactions with plants and his laid back lifestyle makes it easy to believe he might show the least amount of aging of the original gang.C.

“This could be fixed.”Easily. Trudeau could have reserve strips like every other cartoonist for “Vacations”. or, yer Paper could run a Comic by Someone interested in DOING ONE.

GT is free to draw as he chooses. Maybe he thinks those of us who are reading the strip are unable to take the idea of an aging Zonker.

I never said you had to be like me or anyone else. You just have an opinion/mindset that neither I nor anyone else agrees with. Your statement(s) led me to that conclusion. I think I’m pretty good at thinking for myself. So sad for you that you’re unwilling and unable to acknowledge that.

Let’s try this again…I never said that you were the only one with that view. I CLEARLY said that neither I nor anyone else agrees with YOUR view(s) specifically. No one else’s just YOURS. If anyone is “parroting” anything,it’s you. Unfortunately, you’ve achieved your goal of attention-grabbing by having everybody respond to your comments. Your get no respect from anyone here when you insult them. You’ve already formed your opinions upon arrival. You’re not really interested in truth, only in being right. And in being so, you belong to an an astoundingly large club. Interestingly,9 Chickweed Lane did an arc devoted to folks like you. Very interesting. But you won’t read it because it’s too close to the…truth. Pretty safe bet for me. And when YouTube becomes your arbiter of Truth,WHO can’t think for themselves?

Sarge, I’ve tried humor, insult, and everything else I could think of. I read Drudge. I read Foreign Policy newsletters, they have several, and I read GlobalSecurity.org. I even read Fox from time to time. Please, don’t copy and paste your BS at me. You don’t even make up new crap, it’s just the same old same old. Now would you just come out and say what’s on your mind? Or do you have to copy and paste because that’s all you have. Truly sad.

Funny, some one says “Troll” and the liar pops up and says “Hello”. The problem is you people are still trying to argue with a bag of hammers (sorry, hammers, you are at least useful). The best thing to do is ignore it.
