Gunth, you’re going to regret letting Luann place that pic there, when you realise you still love Luann, the last thing you need is those regrets that this jerk from down under stole her just as you and she were finally getting close… murder is illegal of course but, if only he had a little…. accident :p

So Luann just happens to be carrying a 8×10 picture of herself in a frame.

It begins.

Gunther did a great job decorating the room! The pinup is reminiscent of Rosa.

Gunther has a stupid mom. She’s strict about pointless things, but doesn’t care if he sets up a poster of a lady in a bikini on his wall?

Shhh, he may try to bridge the gap all in one day.

The subject of Quill’s staying with Gunther first arose on August 5. There, Quill says “I talked to Gunther about rooming at his house”. The subject was mentioned again on August 9, when Luann tells her parents that Quill “even talked to Gunther about rooming at his house.” Most telling, Just this Monday (October 7), Gunther’s Mom tells Quill on the phone, “Your room will be ready, Quill.” Now we see that Quill doesn’t have a room – he will be living with Gunther in the same bedroom. Does he even know this? And just where is this headed?

Anybody else notice that Gunther’s love of plaid extends to his bedspread?

Oops, it didn’t even occur to me that she was underdeveloped until you mentioned it! Leave it to a man’s pov! Lol

Luann will not be five feet out of the house before Gunther moves it to his stand^^I thought of that also, but, it would be a dangerous thing to do with MPQ right there

Looks like there is not a separate sewing room; there is Gunther’s sewing machine next to his bed. It might just be a small two bedroom apartment.

Donny, I don’t want to be super critical of you because sometimes you have interesting things to say. In fact, yesterday I believe it was, I was reading a post and really enjoying what was being said (don’t remember which one), and when I glanced up and noticed it was you, I was like omg, that was a really good post from Donny! So what I’m trying to say is, who really cares how many posts so and so has or who posts first? It sounds like you really have an ax to grind with your constant harping of this issue. It’s getting tiresome, please stop. My advice is to stick with the relevant topics. Please.

If Quill is in fact an “Aussie surfer dude”, then the poster of the bikini babe on the beach would be completely appropriate. However, until Gunther described him as such to his Mom, we never had an indication that Quill does in fact surf. Rather, the only thing that we know about Quill (and probably the only background that Greg bothered to invent for him) is that he is interested in acting. Although Gunther’s part of the room is decorated with things suggesting his own interests, he has put nothing on the wall that is associated with the theater, such as posters of plays or pictures of playwrights or actors. Gunther is clearly projecting his own “he-man” fantasies onto his man crush Quill, rather than preparing for the arrival of a real person.

“The book on string theory he has in his bookshelf is interesting. I have one also. I looked thru it and have no idea at all about what it says or means. . . .”

That book is probably just too esoteric for the likes of us! There are some layman’s versions that are far more understandable.

I really appreciate getting a glimpse of Gunther’s bedroom—it shows us high points of his character in one picture. :-) Yeah, I like the plaid bedspread too.

A nice guy’s room, each side filled with what should characterize its occupant. But who is the Bikini Babe in the poster for Quill? By theory, she should be some noteworthy Aussie babe, but I can’t put a name to her. Maybe Rose Byrne?

I gotta get my two cents worth in—

1) Luann could have brought the photo over with the intention of adding it to the nightstand, figuring Gunther wouldn’t have one or wouldn’t think of it. It’s in her left hand in panel 1. Alternate— nothing to say how much time passed between panels 1 and 2. She could have gone home and fetched the photo.

2) Gunther is over Luann. He has Rosa. If he were trying to keep Lu and Qu apart, why’d he volunteer to host Quill in the first place?

3) Everything else on Quill’s side of the room is Aussie-related. Australia has some fabulous beaches, tourism posters of which will naturally feature attractive people. A poster of a young, hot hunk would obviously be weird, so Gunth went with the bikini babe.

4) I seriously doubt the door has been removed. Sometimes, it just makes it easier to draw a strip without having to make sure every little detail will stand up to scrutiny.

A lava lamp and a sewing machine??? Ooooh…Gunther’s HOT!

I think the batting on the frame is supposed to look like Valentine hearts. Frankly, I think it’s rather stupid looking, but I’m not 17.

Luckily for naive, literal-minded Gunther, an Aussie who has Waltzing Matilda for his ring tone probably won’t mind the stereotypical decorating. He can fix it as the time goes by.

Wow! A week for a lot of good things for many of us! Possible championships from the sports teams of offspring, excellence in education, published puzzles, and a lot of other good things from people! Huzzah for everybody!…..

If I’m CM, I don’t consider myself a troll. I just don’t have as much free time on my hands as you do to post every waking hour. And, if you’ll recall a few weeks ago I stared a conversation trying to figure out why most of your posts were unintelligible. We all were actually sticking up for you. That said, apology accepted.

I should comment that Australians are not anywhere as nationalistic as USA folks. Quill would be likely to privately cringe when he sees the room decorations. Whenever I visit the US I find it awkward when US folks regularly sing national anthems and hold their hand on their heart etc. Australians are no less proud, but more private with their endearment to their country.

The girls won the first game 4 – 0 and the second game 3 – 0, so we are in first place. We’ll see how the two games go tomorrow…
