Arlo: Janis! Janis, come see this!
Janis: Arlo, what is it?
Arlo: I'm not sure!
Arlo: It's like...LIQUID SNOW!
For our friends & neighbors in the Midwest and Northeast!
Freezing rain this morning. Nothing like a coating of ice on everything in sight ! I refuse to comment on peterhuppertz’s weather. If Northwestern Europe has been lucky this year, more power to ’em!
Here in the Atlanta area, it looks as if we are going to have liquid snow all day, compliments of the Gulf of Mexico. Oh well, it will be warm liquid snow.
In Arkansas we have rain that it is about to turn into what is expected to be 3-5 inches of snow. Luckily we have had warm temps the past few days, so it shouldn’t be sticking to the roads much! I’m so ready to be done with winter and to get the plants set back in the yard and to get the garden growing…
Bah, stop whining, you Mercans. At least you are not up here in my section in Canada. But then again, we Canucks are hardy creatures and can handle the extra snow and cold we got this year.
I’m south of St. Louis and we were at a wonderful 78F 2 days ago. I woke up to freezing rain and snow this morning. In the Midwest, we are used to cold and snow, we just don’t like it very much. Right now if feels like winter is holding spring hostage.
They were singing “Mud, glorious mud” on Prairie Home Companion today — and I agreed — even mud is welcome after this winter. Detroit is 3 inches from breaking the all time record for snowfall at 94+ inches. We’ve had 4 days of 56 degrees, and the snow on our deck is still 2 feet deep.
Very true. In the 30 years I’ve been in Paris we had snow five times and it never stayed for more than a day or two. The city is generating too much heat for it which is why we have a pollution alert right now. Joking aside, best wishes for a quick spring melt for all of you still stuck with snow.
SOUTHERN NJ had a half foot of snow today (3/17) – schools closed. Here on LI, NY we have not had snow again, but there is still plenty about. We have not been able to get all the Xmas lights off the bushes as they are frozen under ice and snow.
Whenever we get a lot of snow, I always long for a good soaking rain — provided that the temp is well above freezing, or else everything would be coated in ice, which is far worse than just snow. And that good soaking rain finally came the other night, washing away whatever snow still remained. Not that I’m assuming that we won’t get more snow, after the way we got hammered this winter. But even if we do, at least it’s not apt to stick around long.

It was 38 degrees and sunny, so I was driving with the windows in the car totally open !! That’s how bad it’s been.

Aaaand in The Netherlands (Northwestern Europe), the only snow we’ve seen this winter was in comics. It’s been an exceptionally warm winter.

It got up to 12 the other day and we turned the air on. My little grandchild saw the sun and was scared.

What warmth? It is barely 83F in full sunshine here in Paris, and a miserly 64F in the shade. (evil grin)

Thanks for the shout out. But in Chicago it was STILL snow last night. Somewhere back in October we stepped into Narnia somehow.

Meanwhile, up here in northern Vermont, I have at least two feet of snow on the ground. That is 61CM for you other folks.

A storm named “Wiley” is barreling through the northern US toward New England. Wonder if it was named after our dear “Non Sequitur” Wiley Miller?
