One of the scariest thing I ever did.

Looks like Quill is wearing a suit, not a tux (unless guys wear ties with one). I wouldn’t know; my hub wore a very nice suit for our wedding, complete with a fantastic tie which he still has… ;)

I always bought my dates a wrist corsage for formals and avoided the issue. Sometimes the florist would make them both ways, pin on or on the wrist.

Or you could, you know, just let Luann pin it on herself, Quill.

I am so confused by the first panel. Did Quill spill black blood all over Luann? WTF?!

My comment is about yesterday’s discussion of the colors green and purple. The Wimbledon colors are indeed green and purple. The cummerbund Gunther made, however, is burgundy, not purple. The wedding color suggestion that Brdshtt posted is also green and burgundy. Green and purple do go well together, but I personally prefer the green and burgundy. It is the color scheme my daughter used for her living/dining area, and it is beautiful, I like it better than my own, which is green and peach. (As long as green is involved, I’m okay with it, though.)

Do Millennials still do the corsage thing? That went out with Potsie!

Quill is wearing a black undertaker’s suit. Foreboding much?

The black blood has two likely explanations.1. Blood is too much for the funny pages. After all, kids aren’t going to read about the situation in Syria, but they might want to see what happens with Luann and Quill.2. Most newspapers print daily comics in black-and-white. Coloring the blood red would look good in color, but in black-and-white it would look like she’s bleeding white.

The admitted flaw of both these arguments, of course, is that they assume that the newspaper industry is more important than most people think it is.

I was thinking that she is actually a pod creature!

@Lauren MQuill’s nerves are causing the pin for the corsage to seem huge and menacing. His fear of stabbing Luann in front of her parents is being shown in the first panel. See how tiny the pin actually is in the second panel?For explanation of the black blood see the comment Sillstaw made above.

Any guy would be a little nervous but with mom (and dad) standing right there as he pins the corsage on, come on, give the guy a break.

I didn’t realize Luann was an alien with black blood….

Given what’s already—ahem—probably occurred between these two, I wonder why Quill’s so dang nervous?

Panel 1 is Nancy’s overwrought imagination and concern that her little baby is turning into a woman, with a boyfriend(!), before her very eyes. In panel 2 her perfervid imagination gives way to rational thought and perhaps even a smidgeon of relief at seeing Quill’s nervousness…. Luann is looking very grown up and dangerously hot in panel 2.

Must be interesting, going out with an actress.

Quill definitely has an imagination if he thought that buying a corsage in the housewares department was a good idea. Luann looks so pretty, but that corsage is just not pretty.

I suppose the blood was colored black so it wouldn’t be so graphic.

Thanks joel and everyone else for your explanation of stat. Had no idea the term somehow is emerging, or has emerged, into our vernacular, and I read papers and visit hospitals a lot. I guess the use of “asap” is passe!

Why is Luann bleeding black ink?

The first picture is obviously imaginary (showing only his FEARS.) .It never happened. .Note that the pin is a long as a sword. The black blood may be an error.

-medieval depictions of young women getting stung by rosebush thorns then bleeding were thinly disguised metaphors for “getting deflowered-That sure makes me wonder about the old story called ‘Sleeping Beauty’….

At first I thought it was an ink squirting sponge, kind of a gag corsage. Luann very expressive first panel.

My wrist corsage is still in my cedar chest. After the prom, Mom stuck it in the fridge where it freeze-dried until she cleaned out the fridge several years later. Then it went into the cedar chest.

“…you know doctors have to come up with a latin word for everything to maintain their air of mystery…” .Ha, good point. And they enhance that self-imposed aura by scribbling out their prescriptions :)

Oh, these sight gags of the last two days are amusing….I want to see some substantial story combined with crucial developments! However, this leisurely pace might keep up all this week, with the big Prom action taking place next week. I don’t know—something or some sort of thing has to happen soon!
