I remember when SpongeBob SquarePants was a brand-new show. Ha! I remember when CDs replaced cassette tapes and when cassettes replaced 8-track tapes. Ha! I remember when people trusted the news, their doctors and the occasional politician! Why would they do that?

History seems to disagree with Frank about the Politicians, they have never been trusted in written history.

Hikes my pants up, and lets my glasses slide down to the end of my noseI remember a time BEFORE internet! I remember when TV’s got 3 channels, and to change ‘em, you walked up to the “tube” and turned a knob. I remember the saying "I’m gonna veg in front of the tube." What are we supposed to say NOW? “I’m gonna veg in front of the OLED.” or “I’m gonna veg in front of the plasma.”? Neither has the same ring.Speaking of ring … I remember when phones had real bells in them, and they had a dial – as in rotary dial. I remember when there wasn’t “10 digit dialing” in Canada/USA.I remember when it was safe (and smart) for children to play outside. I rememzzzzzzzzzzz

Is this some kind of new party game – “Who’s the Oldest Fogey?”
Diane Lee Premium Member over 10 years ago
I remember no TV. The first time I saw it, I was in about second grade, on a round screen about the size of a dinner plate. I remember no microwaves, scrubbing all day on the inside of the oven with a brillo pad, no air conditioning, no central heat, radios the size of a refrigerator, records that came in 33 and 45. Cars only had standard transmissions, there was no air conditioning there either and it made sense for men to do the driving, because there was no power steering. I win the who’s the oldest fogey contest.

ohhh! Rabbit Ears!! remember those! And I was the channel changer at our house. And the phone answerer. The phone on the wall in the kitchen with the cord that you tried to stretch as far as you could to reach the stove. And party lines – sharing your phone line with 1-3 other households. … Mom wouldn’t let me listen in, some fool thing about privacy. .….. and of course – we remember the cheap gas and driving everywhere. And walking home at midnight without worry. (except for the scary stories kids tell running through our heads)
