Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for May 31, 2014
Transcript:
Kid 1: "Bye, Miss Degroot!" Kid 2: "Bye, Miss Farrell!" Kid 3: "Have a fun summer!" Luann: "I'm gonna miss this job..." Tiffany: "Got big summer plans?" Luann: "I'm working at the drama camp with Quill" Tiffany: "How cute. I'm doing something BIG. The photo frame people? They want me to pose for poster frames!" Luann: "Wow! Do you know how many actors went from posters to oscars?" Tiffany: "Uh.... not exactly. Fifteen?"
JayBluE over 10 years ago
Actually, that would be the right answer… if the question were “How many good movies (or actors) win oscars?”… -The next step after posters? An ad for dog food… “T- T- Tiffy And The Pets”…

I do think a lot of actors included modeling in their early work.

I did get it, thanks! I figured if wives can get away with it, then what about the rest of us? Lol!!

“… but my internet searching shows she didn’t win any Oscars.” ^You probably forgot her “guest appearance” on the Dating Game… that week it had “some guy named Oscar”…

Me personally, I do a great “So Low”!

Lol!! You can also say it depends on who’s “turning the" key ”…. heh heh!!!
lynnskay over 10 years ago
Me? I play in the key of “L.” Everybody says it sounds like ’L anyway…
Funny, that’s the key I sing in, at least that’s what my husband says about my singing. Sounds fine to me. Guess that’s an advantage to being HOH/deaf. He pleads with me to sing “so-low” (that he can’t hear it). He says that deaf people should be mute, at least when it comes to singing. Now, that’s not very nice, is it?

“There’s bound to be many more than that. The classic poster girl I remember was Betty Grable . . .”
And what about Farrah Fawcett? She’s a classic poster girl, and she sure became famous (but she didn’t win an Oscar).

“My wife does not have a very good singing voice, but if anything ever happened to her, I’d give anything to hear her again…”
I actually cried when I read your comment, it’s so loving.
Barry1941 over 10 years ago
Is this referring to the photos that re inside a frame when you buy it? Back in the 1940’s they were already stars when their pictured were used. They still turn up at flea markets, etc.

Don’t knock it, Luann. At least Tiffany is making some progress along the line of her ambitions. Do you even have any ambitions (other than to make out with Quill)?
Step-Step over 10 years ago
If they are going to be graduating high school, how come there’s no talk about caps, gowns, senior rings and the ceremony?

Note that the company that Tiffany worked for last summer was actually impressed with her, she did a good job for them, and they want her back. She will take that opportunity and add another credit to her resume in her efforts to become an actress. Luann, on the other hand, will spend the summer pursuing a boy, in an attempt to seduce him on a couch in the place where he works. That’s all because Luann is the “good girl”, and Tiffany is the ridiculous wanton hussy, of course.

I may be dating myself here, but Rita Hayworth was every GI’s favorite poster girl.
locake over 10 years ago
Why would the pay Tiff to pose for another picture? They could use the same one to sell poster frames as picture frames.
keema70 over 10 years ago
I keep hoping that something will happen to motivate Luann to pursue acting and singing, things that she does well. C’mon, Greg!

I’m impressed that I haven’t noticed any Tiffany bashing on this one. I’m used to reading so many nonsensical remarks about her.

Quill, however, will be working behind the scenes helping run the camp, rather than acting in a play (which is what the campers themselves do). Mrs. Manezone therefore won’t have any reason to restore the Quill-Tiffany co-starring team for the summer camp. However, when they both start as students in the drama department at Moony Uni this fall…
TORAD_07 over 10 years ago
LOL, the ‘prop department’ in the theater of my mind supplied the missing tooth and the 4 foot tall sandwich. It just didn’t have any white shirts with the – O – in the middle.
Funny you mention the “4ft. tall sandwich.” The Ohio Deli in Columbus OH, offers the “Dagwood challenge” eat a 2.5lb “Dagwood” sandwich (just like the ones the character makes) and 1lb of fries in 30 min. and you win the challenge). I think it was one of Adam Richman’s original Man Vs. Food challenges.
TORAD_07 over 10 years ago
Was/is there a prize for “winning the challenge”?
I think “all you get is that lousy t-shirt!” :-P

I think Hallie Berry did some modeling also.
ORMouseworks over 10 years ago
Good for you, Luann, you actually gave Tiffany a complement! She seems to have enjoyed it. Perhaps she’ll change her mind and become a model. Going from picture frames to posters Is a big step. At least Luann won’t have to worry about competition from Tiffany while she (Luann) spends the summer with Quill helping out with drama camp! ;)

"I was wondering where all those short, squatty ones were from… "
LOL! — And on the subject of acting/graduating, I don’t think these Academy graduates should have been allowed to leave the campus!

Also sympathy, humor and fellow feeling!– I know this isn’t a place for “religious talk”, and I just state this as a reference, to show what helps my wife and I personally to keep our heads up, but she and I really have to keep remembering our personal faith and convictions. My wife and I have faith in these changes to be brought in by Someone who knows us better than we know our own selves…. (Daniel 2:44; Jeremiah 10:23; Psalm 37:10,11, 28,,29; Isa. 65:21-23) – A lot of days, after “rubbing shoulders” with people, and then watching the news, she and I have to keep remembering what we study, as people can… be pretty “testy”… to say the least, Lol!!!!

Farrah Fawcett did a famous poster in the 1970s – was very popular as an actress for a couple decades. That was the one that came to my head. But that was the ONLY one.

“Absolutely – that is a given in our home. That is why I mentioned that empathy is one of the most important. But not the most important…”
The most important thing I ever learned was in kindergarten . . . the Gold Rule!
JayBluE over 10 years ago
Well, I have to say, you seem to have a very loving family, and it seems a successful one, at that! You seem to show these qualities we’re discussing… – I wonder if more empathy could keep people from going to court, to fight about “who pushed who in line”, or “why did such and such do that to me?”
