I went to the local CC. I had 4 classes – English Lit, Secretarial, Art and PE. Only attended for one semester, then got married.

yep, typical first day.

I wish Life came with subtitles.

And that’s why there is a student union to go drink coffee and talk with others. All too soon you’ll be doing loads of coursework there.

Really good comic today, BUT one major flaw. The kids do NOT call each other. They either text or skype, period.

If she hangs around campus for a while, it is very likely she will run into someone from her high school, but it probably will be someone she knew little or not at all. It seems that she might spend more of her free time at Moony, in order to stay in contact with Quill and Bernice.

I can understand Luann’s feelings of confusion and loneliness on her first day of college, but not why she would continue to sit on the wet grass if she was uncomfortable. Finding good classes can be tough … making new friends can be tough … but for Luann, STANDING UP should not be tough.

I had nearly forgotten about the Elwood character; I’d hate to see him turn up on the campus, or anywhere else in the strip. He was a rather ill-conceived creation…

I don’t remember Crystal saying anything about her post-high plans. It might not be impossible that she is going to the community college.

Surely Knute is working as a janitor somewhere. (Or maybe he’s working on the same garbage truck as Dirk??) Crystal could indeed be attending Pitt CC, or she could now be employed. I doubt she would just move out of town, for no reason. (“I’ve decided to move to Hawaii, to chase after Aaron Hill. ’Bye!!!”)

Knute on a garbage truck— Evans could do it to give a nod to Denny Dimwit, from the old Winnie Winkle comic strip!

Geez, Luann! It’s a little early to be homesick, don’t you think? —Especially since you’re just a day-student and can drive home any time you want! So what if Bernice is off at Moony University? It’s not all that far, if you need to visit!

Joel – you hit the nail on the head. I think a lot of people comment just to hear themselves talk and gripe about trivia uninteresting to the rest of us. Luann is in a strange place with unfulfilled expectations, knows no-one, and yearns for a talk with an old friend. Why is that so hard to understand?

It’s completely believable and understandable about the way Luann is feeling at this exact moment. Things will change (in some way) eventually.

It’ll get better, Luann! It won’t be long before you fall into a new routine of going to classes and studying and catching up with friends on the weekends.

Now get yourself to the bookstore and buy that textbook!

Again, anyone have a theory as to where she’s been since she left home at 7am and showed up at (apparently) 11:30?And how could she wander around campus for close to thirty minutes when she had a guide map showing her where to go?Bet she wouldn’t have gotten lost at a strange mall.

I never thought I’d miss college, but, sigh….

I have to say, though, if Luann is stressed after a class in which the instructor did nothing but call the roll and tell the students to buy the textbook, imagine how she’s going to feel when she has to take notes during an actual lecture.

An opinion counter to your own is hardly in the same class as a lie.
