Yes, yes they are !Sort of reminds me of that Monty Python sketch ofthe race for people with no sense of direction…

Several of those signs on my Bus Route back in the 70’s. They were changed to “Slow Down – Children” aftrer complaints.

I live in a city where some parents think that their children have the right to play in the street so I always slow down when I see them playing on the side walk. You never know when a parent will run out into the street and scream at you for almost hitting their child.

Children these days are slow, because their parents are lazy for the most part.

I always wondered about the “Deaf Child Area” signs I’ve seen posted on roadways. I never understood what that was supposed to mean to drivers… like “if you see a child in the street, don’t bother blowing your horn because they won’t hear you.” What is one expected to do?

And as far as erecting basketball hoops on the street, doesn’t that encourage kids playing in traffic?

I recall living in a development back in the 70s where the parents had actually painted a basketball court on the street pavement… and when their kids were playing, they refused to move for cars traversing down the street. So I drove across the parent’s front yard one evening. They called the police, who then came to my home. When I explained the situation — within two days the hoop had been removed and the township had re-tarred the road with that black sealant. Problem gone!. No neighborhood harmony, but when people treat public roadways as their own personal property, there is no harmony. Some people are just jerks!

There are areas in Maryland neighborhoods (without any major through-a-fares), that have signs which read “Slow Down [and printed underneath) Children At Play”. No one should speed down neighborhood streets in the suburbs or out in the country. In urban areas, with parked cars on both sides of the streets and sidewalks the only place for small children to play, lower speeds are posted for a reason. However, no matter where one lives, parents should watch their children and never never allow them to play in the streets.

I’ve also seen “Blind Person” signs.I’ve always wondered, when seeing a “Blind Driveway” sign, whether they should install a “Seeing Eye Sidewalk”.

Is the world getting so stupid we can not be expected to use common sense? I mean, you are driving through a residential neighborhood with kids playing, doesn’t it make sense to slow down and pay attention to your surroundings?.Don’t you ever wonder if maybe we have too many signs?I know I do…

@Nun’Ya BidnessLook into after market car camera’s. Some manufacturer’s are now putting in the back replacing one of the license lamps. Or you could use a web cam and run a wire along the top of the roof and connect it to a tablet or notebook thin enough to fit under the seat.

Just to be the only one commenting on the strip…those are adorable, yet slow, children.

The PC nazis prefer the term " The Velocity Challenged" ! :-)

Or how about the sign where the following was added:Slow ChildrenThe Bright Ones Have Left Town

They may not be the brightest kids, but to advertise the fact seems a little cruel.

Don’t feel too bad, the “Slow Children” grow up and get jobs. You’ll see “Slow Men Working” signs now!

When I was a child – I always thought signs like “Slow Children” meant the children were moving in slow motion. Of course now, I just snicker at the many multiple meanings. Its nice when something can put a silly smile on your face.
