Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for November 23, 2014
Transcript:
Brad: "So, little sis, how's college life?" Luann: "Totally different from Pitts High. For one thing, no bells and no lockers. I gotta keep track of my own time and my own stuff" Luann: "I've learned to do things without being told five times. College teachers expect you to listen once and then do what you're supposed to do" Luann: "I spend less time in class but more of my own time studying. So no more TV bingeing or goofing around on the phone for hours" Luann: "What're you grinning about?" Brad: "I'm just thinking about how happy mom and dad must be now"

So what do you have to say now, Seismic?
gromit82 almost 10 years ago
This is certainly an example of “tell, don’t show,” since I would have preferred if if much of what Luann is saying had been depicted in the strip over the last three months. But at least Luann is acknowledging that college is different from high school academically.

Looks like someone finally paid attention to those of us who wondered when Luann found the time to study what with all her parties, planning for parties, and “face-time” with _Quill!"

Luann is having the time of her life

High school certainly is different from junior college. We saw high school all the time in this strip, and we’ve seen junior college exactly once.

Why? Have Nancy and Frank gone somewhere??
Editman almost 10 years ago
Did Mom and Dad die off screen. Why is Brad talking about them in the 3rd person? Why is he talking about them at all? What happened to the party?

Maybe Luann claims that everything is different in college, but so far this strip has been strictly High School 2.0. Will we ever see any Pitt CC students other than Luann?

I think Luann’s explanation to Delta of how “busy” she’s been, so much so that she couldn’t take time to vote, comes much closer to the truth.

Sheesh! Some folks are never happy.

Poor Luann.A dose of reality can be a bit of an adjustment.

Is this a dream Nancy is having? Is that an alien clone replacing the real Luann?Seriously? Suddenly reformed?!

Well…since none of us is the writer, I guess we should just read what he chooses to say and either enjoy it or shut up! I for one, wish for certain things to happen as most of you do, but wishing (French for Bitching) is not going to change Greg’s mind. So…?Let them lead the lives he chooses for them and let’s all of us get on with ours!! I am NOT being a poop head, just a small reality check!

I LOVE reading what you all have to say, I enjoy making the occasional comment myself, but these story lines are presented here to entertain us, not control our lives! No hard feelings, OK??

Luann is left handed?

@peanuts511
Yes, I guess I did…it was just an observation…I am not obsessed with the strip, but do enjoy reading it

Don’t really get the humor in todays’ strip, but I’ve been working all night so it might be me.

There are 24 hours a day, we only see a couple minutes of a day for a few characters. Of course Luann could go to college and study many hours a day.
ctsignguy almost 10 years ago
in all fairness to Luann, i understand a bit. i spent my first couple of years at a local college in a sense trying to re-do the high school experience (with a somewhat different crowd) before realizing that with the academic demands, you simply couldnt do that anymore. I would imagine her experience is somewhat like mine was….

“College teachers expect you to listen once and then do what you’re supposed to do.”
That sounds like me and the people I work with.
JimT8 almost 10 years ago
Exactly so.

Ah, the sweet sound of, “TOLD YOU SO.”

“Sounds like she is growing up and atypical of the party till you die that seems to infect most higher institutes of learning. Or my views are based upon incomplete information?”.All information is incomplete, but she is pretty much as we were in the engineering field in college. We were paying for an education and being engineers-to-be wanted to achieve the best result for the money expended (highest efficiency and all that)..We also knew if we messed up, people would die so we tried to do right since it might be us or someone we cared about..Others partied heartily much of the time because they seemed to know or think what they were studying to do was less critical. We assumed they knew better about their own fields than we did.

Welcome to college life, Luann! ;)
