I remember playing croquet with my parents and when my Dad would hit my croquet ball, I would cry….that ensured he wouldn’t hit me clear across the yard. LOL
When you hit the other ball, you had three options: set your ball a mallet’s head away and take two free shots; whack the opponents ball away while standing on your own and then taking one free shot; or hitting both balls together and then taking a free shot. Those latter two options were called, as I recall, a ‘croquet’ and a ‘roquet croquet’, respectively. .[And you were not allowed to re-hit the same opponent during a turn.]
Croquet was a great game for a young boy, especially when a girl wearing a loose fitting top with a revealingcut, bent way over to make a shot…Loved that part…

I believe that’s what’s known as a double bogey. Or something. I know very little about Cricket.

That’s “railroading,” and you try to send the other ball as far away as you can. Fun to do, unless you hit your foot instead.

Emotional blackmail is a time-honored croquet strategy.

We always whacked the ball across the yard – I played with my siblings and cousins and that’s what was expected. We had a very nice set to play with.

I suggest a new strategy, Chuck: let the Wookiee win.
