I think they’ll be good for each other. Tiffany has shown that she is lonely, and I think that she sees in Gunther a kindred spirit.

Also- if Quill got to be with Luann for this long, couldn’t some of the other characters (besides Crystal and Knute, depending on what’s happened to them) have been able to enjoy a similarly timed relationship? Gunther and Tiffany are a perfect couple. Neither one has any illusions about fairy-tale romance, and they each bring to the relationship exactly what the other lacks (Gunther brings common sense, Tiff brings showmanship and enthusiasm)..Definitely not Crystal. Crystal and Knute belong together, and for exactly the same reasons..Now somewhere in this equation there needs to be mention of TJ as the driving force that makes Gunther get off the stick and actually choose a course of action.

Maybe it isn’t about a romance. Maybe it is about Gunther doing something alongside the academics.

He is good at costume design, too. Maybe Tiffany can help him get into that part of the theatre so he can have some fun while he completes his education.

Tiffany is way to self-centered to be a match for Gunther.

I refuse to believe that Gunther and Tiffany are going to be an item. However, stranger things have occurred.

Gunther seems to have made a modest modicum of progress in his self-analysis. I can’t imagine why Tiffany would call him, but a romance with her might make a man ou of Gunny. And it could be good for her, too, since she is so lonely—not uncommon in the case of girls “Too Pretty For Me To Have A Chance, So Why Even Ask?”

Neither Gunther or Tiffany seem to show a lot of physical heat in the romance department. Gunther is shy, Tiffany doesn’t want to mess up her make up. I can only hope that this pairing ignites into a real torrid, awakening surprise for them both.

Actually Gunther and Tiffany are a perfect pair, professionally, to go into the fashion industry. Tiffany has the fashion and marketing skills to promote the business while Gunther has the design and sewing skills to produce the samples for the shows/buyers. Now whether they connect on a personal level could be a whole storyline in itself.

Why would you need to go to Yale to install a solar grid? How do you know she’s doing busy work? And if they don’t have water there probably wouldn’t be a village there. Maybe she did the work she was doing to gain the trust of the villagers by showing them she did not put herself above them. Rosa is brave because she puts other peoples needs ahead of her own.

There’s no room in Tiffany’s life for a partner, since she already has herself, plus herself and herself. I can’t wait to see what happens, apart from nothing. What Gunther needs, Tiffany’s not giving away to anyone but a film producer. She was born to live on a casting couch. Sorry, Gunthie.

If Rosa’s intention were to help people, there’s a lot she could have done in Pitt or in Lima, working with the poor, elderly, disabled, or other needy folk. She didn’t. She just wants to go to the mountain village, because she’s completely unrealistic. That’s quite different from “brave”. Of course, she’s history now, so there’s really no point in digging all that up again. Good riddance.

There are thousands of students at Moony Uni, aren’t there? Can’t Gunther become friends with at least one of them, rather than having to rely on the same people he’s known as his life?

You are hung up on the notion that you need a degree to help people. Rosa was brave enough to follow her heart: it may turn out that that will not turn out the way she wants (that’s called life), but to try for a life helping others is not being a coward. It is being brave writ large.

Just what he needs — someone else to lean on and blame for his decisions/indecision, yet she should watch his ego and make him feel manly. Sounds like prime husband material.

I think I can guess where Mr Evans is going with this. Since Tiffany humiliated Gunther after giving him a makeover, Gunther would have every right to insist that if she wants to date him now,she has to do it—at least the first time—without make-up, in a pony-tail, wearing loose gray sweats. They might both learn a lot from the experience.

That’s a really great song Dave, Mr Withers sang it great. Mick Jagger did a cover of it on one of his solo albums that was good, but I think the original was the best.

You assume she has no skills, does nothing but rakes rocks and depends on others. That’s a lot of assuming. But to you she’s a coward because she does not want to pursue a degree…

Habitat for Humanity workers go as a team to actually build houses. Rosa went with one other person, so about all she can do is rake rocks and pick up sticks (as if the villagers weren’t already doing their own raking and gathering quite fine, without her “help”.) If Rosa were really interested in helping people, she could in fact have joined Habitat for Humanity. She chose not to, because she has to live out her fantasy. She is not helping the villagers; she is just being another villager. That’s not being brave; it’s being delusional.

Yeah, he follows people who are stronger, or more beautiful, or whatever; maybe some of it will rub off on him.

What do these strips prove?^Obviously that you don’t wish to acknowledge them… – I stated at the bottom, that the words used in referencing Rosa were not anything even akin to “coward”. The words “bold”, “outward”, “adventuresome” were all used to describe or reference Rosa…..

Rosa is brave and intelligent, just not smart …………… does not see things in the long run, just in the short run ……….. for her it looks like RIGHT NOW she is doing something, but if she studied something helpful in achieving her helping goals or becoming part of an organization before coming back to the village, could do in 10 years MUCH MORE than if she stayed 10 straight years as she is at this moment, all by herself

You’re welcome! In that one, they got “bumped up” to about 16-17 y.o. (from 2002)– You’re right- could very well end up being one of those “misunderstandings” between one of them, as far as “attention and intentions” go. I could see, though, a possibility that maybe Mr. Evans is going to have them “change” to make them see each other differently. – One difference between now and then, though is that this time , she did seem to talk to him (in a way that didn’t seem like she had to “put up with him”) than then… could be because she “needs more familiar faces” (like when she, Luann, Bernice and “Tele-Delta” all gathered round to laugh and chat, during their first few weeks of college)…could also be that she only sees his new “Miami Vice meets Friends” look….

Gunther and Tiffany makes sense…Tiffany likes to tell people around and live off someone else. Gunther WILL be a successful financial genius given his smarts and dedication to school and work. Gunther likes to follow others. So perfect couple. Tiffany can do whatever she wants, pursue her interests without having to work.

Gunther and Tiff can form an alliance. Use it to meet others. They need not be a couple in any intimate way.

The fact that Gunth says he needs a partner while Tiff has been chasing him all this time (..it seemed they were in a lab together..a few weeks back) suggests that he does not regard her as a suitable candidate. Her overtures to him on campus did not seem to be falling on fertile ground. He’s had the chance to spend time with her and if it were moving ahead he wouldn’t be moaning about his lack of direction and need for a partner. But comic strip time is different from actual so who knows?

Yes, Maybe Rosa has met Aaron Hill’s fate in the Evansverse. (After all, they have a lot of volcanoes in the Andes.) However, remember that Quill was supposed to stay in Australia the first time that he went back (with, what, about 5 minutes’ advance notice?), but here he is. So never say never.

Where IS Knute ?

Of the current characters (in Gunther’s age range) three seem strong (i.e. they have established interests and seem to be moving towards them). They are Quill, Rosa and Bernice. Dez is strong but we don’t know enough about her (e.g. what is she studying?). Tiffany is “headstrong” but isn’t able to do what she wants and is unsatisfied with her lot. If Gunther wants a strong person it can’t be Luann since she is just as confused as he is and said so to him. Quill of course is not a candidate. It would be nice to have some sort of solution to Gunther’s endless whining. I’d be happy to go another week with this plot if we can get to there.

There are several rumors as to whom it might be… It is also rumored that she drops clues in certain ways (letter schemes or something). I guess we won’t know until after she’s no longer with us, assuming she reveals it in her Will, or whatever.
