These days the cops would shoot him first, ask questions later.

Of course this entire story is bullsh!t. There is not one police department in this country who does this.

What’s really sad is that certain segments of the US population have been complaining about such police action for many, many, many decades. It wasn’t until the advent of the handy camera on cell phones which actually started to film such actions that other people started to believe them. And of course you still have a lot of rationalization for police actions by many, often led by the Fox News chorus.

It’s spelled “Aryan” and you do indeed seem to be “special”.Short bus much?

I remember an episode of “LA Law” doing an episode based on incidents like this with the black lawyer, Jonathan Rollins being hassled and arrested for jogging through an “upscale” predominantly white neighborhood. (Circa 1985)BobCu, this sort of thing DID happen VERY frequently and DOES happen more than many of us want to believe.

“I mean, who really cares anyways(besides the whiners)? I’m northern arian, and as long as I’m “in favor” or “special”, I’m good with it;)”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Way to go, Bawana! I hope that I am not interpreting ‘sarcasm’ for ‘serious.’ If you;re serious, then you’ve got the most UN-empathetic man on earth, who actually considers himself superior to others. If so, you should have given us some kind of hint. Is there an Emogi for that sort of thing?

Was BobCu being sarcastic and ironic, or was he serious? I found it hard to tell.

We were so sure all this would soon end- that awareness would finally take over and win the day. How did we keep sliding the other way?

I do hope I am mistaken and that you were saying that sarcastically. But if you were actually serious, then I must conclude you are the most arrogant, self-centered, UN-empathetic man in existence. But you are, indeed, ‘special.’ (Are you aware that ‘special’ has another definition, now?)
Also. my dictionary tells me that “Arianism is a nontrinitarian belief that asserts that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, but is entirely distinct from and subordinate to God the Father.”
Wow! You really ARE special!

BobCu’s comment was right in the uncanny valley for me. I clicked to see other comments, and that was inconclusive, but if that’s an act, it’s pretty consistent with itself.

Time warp strip today. How appropriate for October 21, 2015, referenced in the movie Back to the Future. They even had the Cubs winning the WS in that movie. Not that that is going to happen. If my Cards (who won 100 games this year!)couldn’t stop them, my Royals will. Or maybe even the Mets. I know, I know, everybody is a Cubs fan right now, except those of us who grew up in St. Louis…;) I even heard a NY commentator rooting for the Cubbies. What is wrong with these people?
montessoriteacher about 9 years ago
Back to the Future was filmed in 1985.

Driving While Black, sadly (or outrageously), too frequently a capital offense.

If there was ever any doubt that police departments do this, there should not be in 2015. It is no longer 1985 in that respect. Everyone in 2015 is able to document and show us whatever is out there in the world. It is up to us to at least see what is going on and stand up to racial/gender discrimination. Those who argue there is no racial/gender discrimination in 2015 have zero credibility.

Though we don’t live in Nazi Germany, there is much to be learned from those who endured it. A white Protestant man who lived through it wrote: “First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Socialist. Then, they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then, they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Jew.Then, they came for me— and there was no one left to speak for me.”

On a lighter note, I am waiting for somebody (I’m looking at you, LWP), to weigh in on the mets vs cubs comment…
route66paul about 9 years ago
lets just pick on Southern police departments, we all know that police departments in the north are totally colorblind……
montessoriteacher about 9 years ago
It is true that poor white folks are discriminated against too. That still doesn’t mean that it isn’t also true that if you are black and driving a junker or driving a fancy car that you are more likely to be pulled over. Plenty of black people have been pulled over who were driving expensive cars too, the cost of the vehicle is immaterial if you happen to be a person of color.
montessoriteacher about 9 years ago
You obviously didn’t grow up in St. Louis. It is just a friendly rivalry. Lighten up.

Cards have reason to feel some pride this year. They won 100 games! Their division was brutal! Though they won 100, Pirates won 98 and Cubs won 97. They were right on their heels. Still, 3rd place is 3rd place, and look where the Cubs are…
