Oh, good, Bernice is finally putting her book-learning to practical use. Miss Phelps would be so proud.

Clearly Bern was listening to Alan Parsons Project before she pulled up…-And before that, “Luann’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”s last single, “I Couldn’t Stand Her Face…But Now I’m A Believer” (♪)…

You sure about all that, Bernice? Maybe you’re just jealous of Prudence.

Bernice, as you might recall, had already reacted long ago to Luann’s worries with her usual snarkiness about ’you’ve lost him’, and such. By the time Bernice realized that Luann might actually have something to worry about (given that Prudence was actually going to move into Luann’s own home), Luann herself was no longer ‘tainting’ Bernice’s perceptions. She’s doing all this herself.

That said, a person who acts as if she or he ‘adores’ everyone is someone to watch carefully. As long as the adored one is useful on a project, everything is fine. As soon as the project ends, or the usefulness ends, that’s when you find out whether that person truly ‘adores’…

I have a diagnosis, classic jealousy disorder, with a degree of control disassociation, in that she cannot accept a domain that Luann might have. When she comes down to earth, probably with a very firm redoubt from Luann, or Pru just charms her she will be fine, but meanwhile this is interesting.

Okay, okay, we get it, Bernie. You’re a first-year psych student showing off the new jargon you’ve learned this semester. Now shut up and listen (really listen) to what Luann is saying before you become a bitter vetch and no one’s friend….

4I don’t know…. Bernice’s reaction…. it just doesn’t seem like the real Bernice character. To me, this doesn’t read like how she would be anticipated to behave. It is interesting though, and reminds me a lot of the classic Lucy & Ethyl interchanges seen in “I Love Lucy” , “The Lucy Show” and “Here’s Lucy”…. so it works well at a comedic level.

Prudence clearly has some issues, but don’t we all? Bernice is going to get in trouble with that sort of pseudo-academic judgment of people unless they’re paying her for her “expert” opinion.

I wonder if most people like people who are like Pru, overly friendly without actually knowing you. I back away from people who are too friendly. I want people to get to know me first and then decide if they like me or not. Pru doesn’t know Luann at all.

Proof is provided that our current test-crazy education system is producing a generation of kids who think that because they can memorize phrases from a textbook and fit them into answer forms, they actually understand the real world…
