Oh, good, Bernice is finally putting her book-learning to practical use. Miss Phelps would be so proud.

Clearly Bern was listening to Alan Parsons Project before she pulled up…-And before that, “Luann’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”s last single, “I Couldn’t Stand Her Face…But Now I’m A Believer” (♪)…

An eccedentesiast hides behind a (fake) smile.

You sure about all that, Bernice? Maybe you’re just jealous of Prudence.
Argythree about 9 years ago
Bernice, as you might recall, had already reacted long ago to Luann’s worries with her usual snarkiness about ’you’ve lost him’, and such. By the time Bernice realized that Luann might actually have something to worry about (given that Prudence was actually going to move into Luann’s own home), Luann herself was no longer ‘tainting’ Bernice’s perceptions. She’s doing all this herself.
That said, a person who acts as if she or he ‘adores’ everyone is someone to watch carefully. As long as the adored one is useful on a project, everything is fine. As soon as the project ends, or the usefulness ends, that’s when you find out whether that person truly ‘adores’…

Couldn’t use the reply function.
So far, we’ve only really seen one personality…

Psychobabble is right.
keema70 about 9 years ago
I see a lot of misdirection here.
luann1212 about 9 years ago
I have a diagnosis, classic jealousy disorder, with a degree of control disassociation, in that she cannot accept a domain that Luann might have. When she comes down to earth, probably with a very firm redoubt from Luann, or Pru just charms her she will be fine, but meanwhile this is interesting.

Okay, okay, we get it, Bernie. You’re a first-year psych student showing off the new jargon you’ve learned this semester. Now shut up and listen (really listen) to what Luann is saying before you become a bitter vetch and no one’s friend….

Would you mind saying that in English, Bernice? I’ve studied 19 languages, and Psychobabble isn’t one of them!

4I don’t know…. Bernice’s reaction…. it just doesn’t seem like the real Bernice character. To me, this doesn’t read like how she would be anticipated to behave. It is interesting though, and reminds me a lot of the classic Lucy & Ethyl interchanges seen in “I Love Lucy” , “The Lucy Show” and “Here’s Lucy”…. so it works well at a comedic level.
The Old Wolf about 9 years ago
Prudence clearly has some issues, but don’t we all? Bernice is going to get in trouble with that sort of pseudo-academic judgment of people unless they’re paying her for her “expert” opinion.

James Joyce has a line in Finnegan’s Wake, “When I was Jung and Freudened” (triple multilingual pun?). Keep hitting that DIM manual, Bernice.

Had to look up eccedentiesiast, and learned something new today. No, Bern, sorry don’t think so. Let us know when you hang your shingle. But thanks for trying to help your friend feel better.
locake about 9 years ago
Better to be that than an Ecdysiast

I wonder if most people like people who are like Pru, overly friendly without actually knowing you. I back away from people who are too friendly. I want people to get to know me first and then decide if they like me or not. Pru doesn’t know Luann at all.

I took my daughter to see “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” this weekend, and there was a theater worker who appeared to share Pru’s personality.

I think it fits TJ, but Quill has shown some range of emotion and smiles probably about one-third to one-half as much as TJ.
Tarredandfeathered about 9 years ago
There’s a Lot More than just being an Eccedentesiast going on with Pru..A Fake Smile is one thing.A Fake Whole Body “Smilegasm” is Way beyond that.
Luanaphile about 9 years ago
I think you mean narcissism. Solipsism is just the belief that we have no indisputable evidence of reality other than our own awareness of self.
Caldonia about 9 years ago
Wow, Bernice is acting like a troll. Maybe she’ll be over it by the time “Happy Fun Xmas Gumdrop Play” opens.

SPOILER ALERT
Proof is provided that our current test-crazy education system is producing a generation of kids who think that because they can memorize phrases from a textbook and fit them into answer forms, they actually understand the real world…

What about heads so stuffed with fancy terms that they have no room for common sense?
JayBluE about 9 years ago
I’ve even seen some doctors who could figure out the insides of a person, but couldn’t make “heads or tails” out of a copier or Fax…
kenhense about 9 years ago
OK Greg: Pru has to win over Berneice. I know you can do it!
Argythree about 9 years ago
LOL!
Caldonia about 9 years ago
That’s a pretty pompous and spurious remark!

There’s a lot of people like that. So you read a book—you’re still no expert!

Is this Karmic Payback for the High School Drug Dealer who tried to bamboozle Bernie, way back when? .
