A relative’s two year old developed a solution for the constant inattention that she was receiving due to her mother’s constant attention being given to her mother’s cell. The toddler grabbed the phone and, with an act similar to a MLB pitcher throwing a fast ball to win the World Series, threw that iPhone 6 to the floor thus inflicting the greatest harm possible to that attention thief.
At age, whatever that means, 69 I love tech and am playing Fallout 4 on my PS4 but I do not have or want or need a cellphone….it has contributed to so much sheer rudeness and no one seems to think it applies to them personally not to mention the idiots driving while distracted to the hilt….puleeeze bend over so I can store your phone for you while we talk face to face and by the way when your are my age you will have no thumbs or index fingers left as you will have worn them off so there….
My phone is always either lost or dead. It seems to irritate people that I may not respond to a text or voice mail till a few days later. It’s kind of useless for me.
My sister lives in the woods, and texts will pretty much always get through, even if a cell call might not. My phone gives me texts that might be a day or more after the fact, even on the days I think of turning it on.
The worst example I saw of this was one day riding on the Metro. There was an attractive young couple across the way from me, both glued to smart phones. The guy reads something on his screen and laughs. He starts typing away and hits send. Two seconds later his girlfriend laughs. She types furiously away and hits send. Two seconds later he smiles.
Personally I don’t call them smart phones when I see some of these self-absorb mindless drones walk into pylons, lamp posts, trees and step in front of on-coming traffic. Seems pretty stupid to me.
As with many others, I also dislike the rudeness imposed on the world by some people and their cellphones. But you would actually hope somebody gets broadsided for irritating you? How quaint. Yeah, I’m sure that’ll fix things, Judge Dredd.
I’m a little surprised they aren’t getting regular updates on the twins through social media. Social media provides a way to keep up with the twins when you can’t be there, though it is better to be there. BTW, where in the world is LWP? He usually checks in at the top.
At first, schools were totally against cell phones and devices. But then, it was realized that they could be useful for many things, especially safety. My daughter’s school allows them but there are rules regarding them. Most schools realized they had to compromise on this.

If a person won’t put the phone down when with another, they are not only demonstrating that they have no manners, but that the other person means little or nothing to them. It’s not the phone. Like many “things” that function badly, it’s the user that’s the source of the problem.
I refuse to answer texts. If you are too lazy to speak to me then I don’t need to know what you are saying. I could cove more in a five minute conversation than I could in a hour of text messages.

I know it’s days later and probably nobody will read this comment, but I’m really amazed at the ire towards an inanimate object. If you saw a phone of any kind sitting on a counter or maybe laying in the grass next to the sidewalk, would you become instantly enraged and smash it to bits? Yet how do you feel when you are having a conversation with someone, their phone beeps, and they instantly pull it out to read a text and they start texting back and forth with someone without so much as an “excuse me”? Are you angry with the phone or with the person? It’s the behavior that irks so, not the phone itself. It’s just a communications device and a computer. If people are so ill-mannered, disconnected, and lacking in self-esteem that they need to feel important by immediately tending to their device’s beeps, the problem is one of human nature and poor upbringing, not in the powers of a small device. If everyone behaved admirably you wouldn’t care one whit about these devices.
