This will be my last post for the next five weeks. My wife and I are heading to Germany and the Netherlands on holiday. We start with the passion play in Oberammergau and end on a house boat in Amsterdam.
Please count the number of voters who pay less than $100. in income taxes.
We are in debt because voters do not pay income taxes.
Now, I would favor a law to give an extra vote to cast to those who do pay income taxes. They should be the decision makers.
pouncingtiger, that line was old a year and a half ago, find a new one. The fool in the White House now, with his cabal in Congress, has raised the debt more in two years than the last president did in eight.
SKP Tom.V - it’s NOT the voters, not paying taxes … it’s the BUSINESSES not paying taxes on MONEY EARNED (NOT to be confused with profit!).
How many people got their pays CUT because of the new battle cry: “We MUST reduce hours to decrease Corporate spending and MAXIMIZE the dollar!”, made by people that GOT their raises and bonuses the last 6 years?
It’s COMPANY’S that don’t pay, but reap the tax credits hand over fist - NOT “Joe Blow”!
We CAN’T “Blame Obama” for this one … he’s spent LESS time in the White House crapper than Bush - isn’t he on Vacation NOW, in some far off country (?) instead of spending it - HERE ??? - !!! - Now, HE’S an “America FIRST” kinda guy!
Flag it Bill!
I don’t pay income tax because Mr. Bush took my income away, not Obama. At least I’m not supporting the illegitimates [polite for fish excrement (bass turds) on welfare].
Sarge, you sure can spout the union rhetoric. Unions helped put this nation into debt by demanding more, doing less and sending jobs overseas where labor is cheaper and less “troublesome”. If you want to get paid a bunch to do little join a union in a manufacturing plant. If you want to actually earn your income by working, then the unions in healthcare and mining are for you (if it must be a union job for you). And the union pension demands are pretty outrageous as well. Most union retirees make three or four times the retirement of most hardworking people with jobs (unless they are in those same overpaid manufacturing union jobs…which are getting in pretty short supply).
“Please count the number of voters who pay less than $100. in income taxes. ”
So … companies with lobbyists such as Exxon who pay $0 in income taxes or like GE get back $1.1 billion in profits FROM income taxes … .
Incidentally individuals (whom I presume you mean are poor, but could mean rich tax evaders) who pay “less than $100” in taxes… presuming they do so because of their income, own a small fraction of the country’s total wealth compared to the number of people in that range.
The new Republican mantra:
Tax cuts for the rich.
Tax increases for the poor.
Uneffingbelievable!
The Republicans love poor people.
Look how many of them their policies created.
Over the past two years, this administration and this Congress have increased spending by nearly 18 percent and run up more debt in two years than the ‘irresponsible’ Bush administration did in all of its eight years combined. Meanwhile, in the last two years, unemployment has increased from 7.6 to 9.5 percent. Remember this: businesses don’t pay business taxes. Business taxes can only be paid in one of three ways – by us as consumers through higher prices, by us as employees through lower wages, and by us as investors through lower earnings on our 401(k) plans.
@SKP Tom V—-Check your history. When the constitution of the United States of America was first ratified, only male landowners with a certain amount of wealth could vote. I’m not sure that that was right but it was the law at the time. It raises the question, “Should we have voter limitations now?”
Democrats are in such a rush to pass one more stimulus-type bill that the legislation didn’t even have a name as of 8/10/2010..
As CNET reported, a watchdog Web site on Sunday evening noted that the Democrats’ $26-billion spending measure includes a few blank spaces.
Congress’ official Web site calls it the ‘Act of__,’ and the Library of Congress’ Thomas Web site displays it as the ‘XXXXXX Act of XXXX.’”
A nameless bill for a hopeless cause is a fitting metaphor for a Democratic Congress that refuses to listen to the American people and abandon its job-killing agenda,
House Republican Leader John Boehner on Monday offered 10 possible names for what he called the “union-boss bailout” bill:
– Save Our ‘Stimulus’ (SOS) Act
– ‘Recovery Summer’ Bailout Act (Cash for Flunkers)
– Delivering Unions a Major Boost (DUMB) Act
– Helping Election Expenditures, Hurting American Workers (HEEHAW) Act
– Democracy is Strengthened by Clearly Leveraging and Optimizing Special-Interests’ Effectiveness (DISCLOSE) Act
– Holding Union Bosses Over Until Card Check Act
– Rescuing Incumbent Democrats Is Costly (RIDIC) Act
– Summertime Cash for Union Bosses Instead of Spending Cuts for Taxpayers Act
– Frivolous Act of Ineffective Largesse (FAIL) Act
– Naming These Things Hasn’t Gotten Us Anywhere, So Why Bother? Act
It’s not the politicians, it’s not the corporations, it’s not the unions, it’s not the tax code, it’s not Bush or Obama, it’s those pedophile priests and Jew bankers.
Now I’ve moved the comments away from politics and on to religion.
There are none so blind as those who will not see.
If you can’t see the harm the present administration has done in the past year and a half, but you continue to blame “Bush”– you just might be a liberal.
If you think paying out billions of dollars to special interests, raising taxes, and creating an anti-jobs economy will result in lower unemployment– you just might be a liberal.
If you think it’s racist to control our borders, racist to speak out against this administration, or racist to do just about anything (as long as you’re not a Democrat, for then you get a free pass)– you just might be a liberal.
so they don’t know what to call the next “stimulus” bill?
How about, “The Act of One More Straw”, as in the straw that broke the camel’s back.
It should be referred to as a STEAMulus Bill. Because it reminds me of a big pile of STEAMing s…
I did earn my own living and paid my taxes until my job was outsourced to India two and a half years ago (thank you United Rentals). I have been getting off my “dead bleeep” looking for work since then. You have the nerve to tell me I don’t have the right to vote!!! GO TO HELL!!!!
Let me get this straight…
Obama’s health care plan was written by a committee
whose head says he doesn’t understand it,
passed by a Congress that hadn’t read it,
signed by a president who smokes,
funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes,
overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and
financed by a country that is broke.
What could possibly go wrong? (go wrong-go wrong-go wrong…)
Only problem, sarge, is that companies do not end up paying taxes. Every single tax dollar they pay is passed on to the consumer of their goods or services in the price of those goods and services. I argue that a fair tax would be for only corporations and businesses to be taxed so that those who do not use their products or services are NOT taxed and those that do would pay for the actual cost to the company to produce.
@dahawk, then you end up with the government shutting down the kid selling lemonade. Perhaps a standard deductible like for individuals would mitigate this (a business doesn’t start to pay tax until revenue exceeds a minimum - say 10000). For the business only tax to work, it would have to be on revenue (gross or net), not profit - it is too easy to adjust profit. Although there are accounting games to alter net revenue, so maybe it should be gross revenue.
