Neighbor Nancy Confronts her Kids' Grandparents. Nancy: You two are grandparents now, that means that if I want to drop off my kids with you for the day, you should look forward to it. I mean, what's better than that? Grandma: Everything. Nancy: Please take off the headphones. Grandma: Yo, we're tuning you out. Grandpa: Word.

Time to disown the grandparents.

Nancy, you’re a parent now. That means that you take care of your children instead of dumping them somewhere for the day whenever you feel like it.:Nancy’s Parents, rock on!

Nancy, grow up. Old people are not fit to take care of any children. You’ll understand it once you’re in their place.

Some grandparents LOVE grandchildren, and others couldn’t care less….sad truth of the world.

Had many Good and Great times with my Grandparents and for that I am thankful ! No matter who you are the actions of today you will think about tomorrow :-)

Unfortunately, there’s nothing ‘grand’ about them.

Most people commenting here obviously have no clue about grandparents (don’t worry, you will get there one day).
I speak as a grandparent of 6.
All grandparents I know love their grandchildren.
Grandparents do not forget about raising kids (and do not want to do it again!), parents raise kids, grandparents just enjoy them.
One reason to enjoy having them for a day (or a week or a month) is the fact that this is not an obligation and that we may put an end to it if we feel like (which we do not).

We ensured our children knew their grandparents, and we now enjoy our grand-daughter.

My, what a sweet couple, with ambitions of dying alone and being forgotten forever. Hopefully Stephan writes in their death and forgets about them soon.

I despise children. I never wanted to watch my own so I sure wouldn’t want to watch someone else’s. BTW, I have no children.

Nancy what goes around, comes around. All those times you tuned out your parents are coming back to haunt you.

Wow! I have never seen so many vicious comments about parenting/grandparenting in my life. Sad.

And Neighbor Nancy is showing her ME ME ME self. Note she says “That means if I want to drop the kids off with you for the day” not “if I ask you if you’d be willing and free to watch the kids for the day”. No, she wants her folks to be her servants and do whatever she wants, and wants them to be more than happy to do it for her. She’s the inconsiderate one, not her parents.

When you become a parent, you enter that child’s world forever. Enjoy it; it’s no your world.

My wife was an orphan and I wouldn’t leave a cat with my parents, so we had to watch them all of the time. We were about 80% parents with my granddaughter and now they want to push 4 boys on us, with too much success. When do we get a break?

Hey, Granthers, rethink this! It’s your chance to spoil them rotten. Right up until you give them back to Mom.

For the record, I moved from MO to NV just to babysit!

I’m happily single and don’t have plans to start a family. My Mum has said she would love to be a grandmother though.
Too bad, Mother.

I hear a lot of flat out generalizations that simply aren’t true. Grandparents are this, grandparents are not that, parents are this and not that, etc.Truth of the matter is, every family is different, and everybody has to work things out for themselves the best way they can.For example, in my family, the grandparents were either too sickly or too useless to take care of our kids. So, we had them watched by one of their great grandparents (my wife’s grandmother).Do I recommend the arrangement for everybody? Of course not, but for us, for a while, it was perfect.

having had both grandparents that were wonderful and those that were not nice human beings (although all were great doters and responsible if left in charge) i agree. it’s impossible to generalize. enough with the assumptions

My parents were always happy to see their grand-kids… but they were never expected to be babysitters. In my family, the rule was that if you brought your kids to see their grandparents, you stayed there during the visit… and you made arrangements for the visit in advance, so the folks were not inconvenienced.

I don’t despise children – well, not quite – but there are too many as it is, and they are avoidable. So (like pets) have one if you must, but don’t inflict it on others.

This is why grandparents move to Florida.
