Most everyone in America grew up living in homes with mixed-gender bathrooms. Why people are driven into frenzies by “OMG there’s someone of the ‘wrong’ sex in the BAAAATHROOOM!!!” I have never understood.
@Ravenwing. Most people grew up in homes which had bathrooms that were meant to accommodate only one person at a time using the commode. The only time you would have someone in the bathroom when you used the commode was when your spouse was in there. Not a stranger with whom you were not already intimate with.
I once was facing the wall in a public restroom and in comes an attractive young mother with her young son in tow. Said son wanted to tinkle where the big boys go.
All their lives, men are told they can’t go into the ladies’ room. Now men in ladies’ clothing are going into the ladies’ room when previously men in ladies’ clothing sneaking into the ladies’ room would have gone to jail and be put on sex offender lists. Men who don’t consider themselves ladies and ladies who don’t consider the men ladies often have a problem with that.
Say, what exactly is the PC term for a woman who ISN’T a trans-woman? I’m pretty sure we used to just call them “women”, but nowadays that would imply that trans-women aren’t women. Same problem if we call them “normal women.” Any help you can offer would be appreciated. It’s hard to have meaningful conversations about these issues when our culture’s morals are changing faster than our language.
I imagine women dressed as men have been using the men’s room and vice versa for some time. I’ve never seen a man in female clothing in the men’s room. I have accidentally gone into the ladies room a couple of times.
Seriously of all the scary things threatening our world from global warming to drug cartels to ISIS to killer asteroids to killer mosquitoes, the very last thing I worry about is this non-issue regarding transgendered use of public restrooms! And yet the GOP is making it their sole rationale for being.
Still waiting for Ernie Dinklefwat’s stalker. Perhaps that’s her in the Anxiety Closet’s restroom. I looked back in my Bloom County archives and actually found a Mrs. Dinklewat (no “F” in the name) in the March 26, 1983 strip.
Too many anxieties! Relax, folks. When I was growing up, people and other animals were of a sex; genders existed in language studies and sometimes but not always corresponded to sex (famously, the French word for penis is feminine).
Men who fear the “unnatural” are more likely to be predators than people who were born men but dress as women. Sexual assault is much more about violence and power than it is about sex. People in positions of prestige and authority (politicians and priests and star athletes, for example) have many thousands more proven assaults to their discredit than do trans women. These predators would never hide their identity in women’s clothes.
The word you’re looking for is “rape”, and it’s women complaining of worries about transgender men.
Not surprising, when you consider the vast majority of the trans community began their lives as men, and most of them still REMAIN “rape-equipped”. Even Caitlyn Jenner.

Start over with something else. That one wasn’t very scary.

It is illegal to have LGBT in public bathrooms but legal to have guns in CHURCH! The inmates are running the asylum.

When I was stationed in rural Japan back in the early 70s, there was no gender separation in public toilets. Stalls, yes, but not for urinals.

Much ado about nada. Thanks, GOP, for distracting America from the real menaces of Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.

So long as whoever is using the restroom appears to be of the proper gender – I ain’t too concerned. I’m not gonna check.
