You can always use the money, Stephan.

It’s a shame. Anybody who would name his dogs after characters from THE WIRE deserves a long and healthy life.

Steph is this an add-on to Larry Croc talking about dying yesterday ?

It could be rearranged so it’s a different name in real life. Also, Mr. Pastis has been playing with the strip lately- adding his picture, and now putting in an obituary.

Jeepers. Cartoon-Boy thinks he’s funny and entertaining! Snerk! Obituaries; yeah; that’s where the action is (or isn’t, depending on whether or not it’s your obit)!I think Rat may be onto something. And he is, by your own confession, your alter ego, Cartoon-Boy. Listen to him. He’s your inner you speaking to your outer cartoon-you!

ess than a minute agoHaving just had to pay for an obituary a few weeks ago, yes, it’s not cheap. And if you want more than just the most basic information, you pay extra. But at a time like that, who feels like arguing?By the way, does anybody else think that Pastis uses himself way too much as a character in this strip?

Recently, I learned that ID thieves are using obits to do genealogy sites in order to gain access their personal info. My best friend’s widow has had to fight credit card fraud because of it. Boy, thieves sure do mean things.

We just found out the hard way that newspapers charge you not hundreds but almost $1000 for an obituary for my father with a picture. We opted for a small ‘death notice’ that was 1 line long and looked like he was some homeless transient. I can’t believe how the ‘death’ industry gouges people who are grieving!!! The airlines, the funeral parlours, the floral shops! ALL of them take advantage of people who have lost loved ones.

Where does Josie Wales get off saying “Dying ain’t much of a livin’, boy” ?

Judging from how few here seemingly picked up on that, more readers need to watch The Wire.

Wait, does that obit say that Rat is completely jealous that folks actually pay for a Pastis book while absolutely no one save for Pig wants anything from Rat?

Hey, wait a sec… Jay Glibenski was born the same year as me (1952). I’m no where near ready to have an obituary published, whether in the comics or elsewhere (though there is some appeal to perhaps having it placed in the comics). I think the various dog names (Bunk, Lester, McNulty, and Stringer Bell) also show some promise of future use, somewhere (but probably not by me). I particularly like “Stringer Bell”.
