I believe having armed drones is protected by the second amendment.

Goat is such an idealist! If he were to look at the length of that line of folks eager to buy Rat’s drones, he might, just maybe, realize that the answer to his rhetorical question in panel 3 is “a lot of people; maybe even most” (with a side order of missiles, of course)!

My neighbor started renting his house out, listed on AirBnb. I’ll take one drone, and it won’t be an Amazon delivery.

It would be a big seller. There are many people who feel insecure unless they have the ability to kill others.

Agree with the amendment or not, I know I can’t change it. So, instead, let’s enforce it…. no weapons of any kind unless you can produce your militia membership ID…. And, as it has to be regulated, you must attend all training events and meetings.

@packratjohn — the point was to be able to FORM a “well-regulated militia” to protect yourself, your family and your neighbors from the threat of an unjust, overbearing government — which the colonists had just fought and beat. That’s why they knew it was important to keep the right to bear arms and NOT cede that right to the government.

As for the grammatical correctness of the Constitution: legalese is its own language. It’s not meant to be readable. Read a lot of it and it just “drones” on and on.

Instead of attacking your neighbors with remote control helicopters, how about capturing some bees and attacking them with real drones? Or put the bees inside the helicopters to get drones to the power of two?

The 2nd Amendment is written appropriately and grammatically correct. The Bill of Rights was not written by one or two people. Its final form was approved by a group of mostly well-educated men. Any apparent illiteracy comes from a 21st-century lack of understanding of 18th-century form.

As others have said, our founding fathers were extraordinarily well educated, and educated far beyond most people today. If a new Constitutional convention were called today, the chances that it would produce a working government that would survive over 200 years are virtually nil. What they accomplished is extraordinary, and quite rare in all of human history.

To start a war, whereupon drone missiles shall rain fire and destruction upon my head from all directions:*Considering that the 2nd Amendment is absolute, and is now being used to curtail the 1st Amendment (which are greater rights), why doesn’t somebody just repeal that 2nd one and enact a different Amendment more realistic for today’s society? (I know, drones hovering overhead already. You guys are fast!)

    Serious comment:

I don’t believe that the Founding Fathers were foolish enough to want the village idiot to have unrestricted access to muskets, pistols, and other dangerous weapons. Amendment II was only meant for the protection of state militias.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Non-serious comment:

Can I have a drone with a machine gun attached? I’ve got some neighbors I really hate…

Sounds pretty accurate to actuality. The real irony to the drone debate is the number of people who are against governmental and private drones who go out and get a drone so they can spy on their neighbors to make sure their not spying on them with a drone. I’m not making this up, I have seen articles mentioning it over the last year and I’ve seen hundreds of comments from folks who have said they would do so.

Mr. President, well, regulate this militia!

Gun owners who are neighbors should all know each other well, and keep track of where all the guns are and who has them. Well, regulate yourself, or somebody else will regulate for you.
