As if Calvin would really care whether or not he looked cool for the “babes.” Calvin HATES girls, remember?

I thought Calvin thought girls were G.R.O.S.S.

It has ever been thus. Remember pegged pants, pink and charcoal gray, duck tail haircuts—who were they for if not the “babes”?

I’m not sure that it has really registered with Calvin that babes=girls.

But Calvin doesn’t like girls. He wants to repel girls. He wants to Get Rid Of Slimy girlS.

Get a different kind of pants to look REALLY cool.

I did a survey about a “new” style of jeans: Would you buy these for $139? No. My wife hit the annual sale for a local women’s support group, got two business suits, three business dresses and definitely not for business dress, all for $93.

Uh, Mom? FYI, Calvin hasn’t grown in 25 years… until another artist started drawing him as an adult.

But I thought Calvin HATED girls (babes).

@Yngvar Babes ain’t gross girls. In my opinion, “babes” was 1980’s slang for hot females whose attention was taken for granted, and whose worship provided affirmation of high social status. So while technically female with higher status than regular gross girls, not worthy of consideration as equals anyway. While I don’t believe that misogynistic baloney, I remember many of my boyhood friends espousing the stereotype.

C’mon, Mom: you already know he’s going to be a pariah because of his personality; you don’t want him to be further ostracized because his clothes aren’t in style, do you?

But the argument came from Hobbes, who likes “smooches” not Calvin, who fears cooties!

Careful ,Calvin, babes => Smoochies!!! It’s a trap cunningly laid by Hobbes.

Say Mom, as short as the legs are on the pants Calvin wants, keep in mind with your lithe figure, you could wear them as shorts when Calvin outgrows them…

That is, if Calvin outgrows them!

Mom could look like Jessica Simpson, for example…

I couldn’t care less about designer clothes. I just shove anything on.
