Government is now too big to oppose and too big to fail.Give up your arms. Give up your hope. Give up your lives. All your base are belong to us.And “well-regulated militia” is an extenuation of the premise that government does not have the right to disarm the populace. The premise is not dependent upon that phrasing.
X-TechOh yeah! Been wanting to do that for a long while. Deer with arms and very sharp teeth who lust for human flesh. Gotta read that story again it has been too long. Ever read Streiber’s’ first horror novel “Wolfin”.
The childish behavior of those on either side of the 2nd. Amendment has become un-bear-able. I fully support the right to arm bears. Lions, leopards, zebras and rhinos as well.
A note on the 2d and “militias”, is that the Constitution also restricts funding an army to only two years at a time, further evidence they intended the militias to be “well regulated” and the first line of defense. Also Articles of Confederaton called for state armories to hold the “arms” but in the Constitution they recognized the logistics problem and said the militia members should keep the weapons at home.
They also recognized the subsistence economy of 18th Century America and the need to shoot that bear for food, or become his food?
AS to the B.A.R., automatic weapons are NOT ILLEGAL, if you pay the tax and pass the background checks to be cleared by the Feds to own one. My nephew has two, and I know other folks with more. “Sport” shooting them on a range for kicks (which a BAR DOES!) is one thing, letting them out on the streets to gangs is another. BTW, gangs, and for that matter unrecognized as “official militias”, in the US far, far, outnumber “Radical Islamic Terrorists”, and ARE far more heavily armed.
Stll love Wiley’s bears, and this one is coming HOME from the range and stopping for a toddy, not going out to rob a liquor store.
Looks O.K. to me…can’t be more dangerous than those untrained nervous types…or those trained nervous police!
Got a ticket (while parked) for missing driver’s side mirror in the Blue RIdge National Parkway. ($50 +$30 court fees—FEDERAL ticket!)
Guys asked me so many times if I had a weapon, I began to believe that I must be supposed to have one…
Being a Jackie Chan fan, I have to ask them each time “How do you define ‘weapon?’” Everything is a weapon. Kill you with a folded magazine…
Too many cops in different places have told me that they would have to shoot BEFORE I got my hand out of my pocket—just in case I had a weapon. Huh? They can’t pull the trigger before I can aim and fire? BAD training!
The third amendment definitely should have been not allowing the government to tell people that they cannot have a sense of humor in any particular matter. But limiting the power of government, which is proven to kill millions at a time, isn’t something often considered.
Why do you liberals want to take away our guns? I don’t understand. I know you have no backbone and easily surrender. But why do you want the people that will fight for you to give in?
Then again, I’m not an expert on humor, so I leave it up to a Mr. Lenny Bruce, who famously said, “Humor is highly subjective. If you think something is funny, but it could harm the sensitivities of some person who self identifies as morally superior, then you should probably just shut up, and especially on the Internet.”
drklassenFinally, someone gets it right. Read Madison’s Notes and see the view of the time. Eldrige Gerry even proposed any standing army be limited to a fixed number, “say two or three thousand” (a percentage would have been better), just enough to guard the armories. You left out avoiding the evils of conscription, the third rejected means of getting a military.
Bears are already armed with 4 sets of shuko with 3 inch blades. Plus a pair of industrial shears and 4 punch chisels with a 500+ lbs. closing force. If bears actively began hunting people, we’d be in serious trouble until we ganged up on them and wiped them out. It’s not that they aren’t heavily armed, it’s that they usually don’t want anything to do with people, except to eat our trash and pet food left out.
He sure is misinterpreting the second amendment, it’s the right to bear arms, not the right to arm bears, so what the amendment actually mean, is that the guys sitting in the bars with him, has the right to steal his arms.
