Am I the only one rambling around the GoComics beta site? Or is everyone else, like I was, having a hard time finding the comments section?

I don’t know why I bother to read this strip. The ad covers the first block of the panel. Between the cookies and the ads it doesn’t seem worth it.

NG, i know you are interested in these numbers. (People who are not interested can scroll. Unless, of course, your fingers are broken and then you have my sympathies.). In actual popular vote counts it is now clear that Clinton so far has over 1.8 million more votes than Trump. There is a still uncounted large portion of California which was expected to greatly favor her, so the final number of margin by which she won the popular vote is expected to be well in excess of 2 million voters. Of course, there is the logical and expected result of people speaking their minds, singly and communally to go to the popular vote rather than presidents being elected by the Electoral College in the future. That is legal and was encouraged by the Founders who realized they were not perfect.

Whenever Puddles leaves a room, he always leaves a little of himself, behind… Thus the name.

And there goes the mature, serious minded, college student. I just think that it is hard to focus at that age when you don’t have a specific goal or interest. Greg is having trouble making the transition from high school to college.

Not impressed at all. Can see why there are ZERO comments (until mine). Still no way to post previous strips for commentary clarification. This puts the strip historians at a disadvantage.

    Another Groaner:

    .

Went over and logged in at the beta site. Zero comments for Luann (until mine). Still no way to post previous strips for clarification or commentary. My rating on a scale of 0 to 10:

    .

    1.5

    .

I agree with Sukie – they really cheaped out.

    .

Schrodinger’s Dog is right on the money also, a huge disappointment.

And it’s an extra step that your “comics Page” doesn’t automatically come up when you log in. You have to select it from the drop-down menu.

Seems they’re more interested in “sharing” via other social media than the comments area here standing on its own.

Everyone will be home? This would make more sense if anyone in this family lived out of town or someone attended college far away, but Brad is local and Luann still lives in the same house with Puddles. So no one will be “home” any more than usual. (Is Frank home full time now? He doesn’t have an actual job, does he? And neither does Nancy, right?) So why would Puddles feel that the holidays are any way different from normal?

    Hi, Luann! Bye, Luann!

What “gang” does she run with?

I suspect Frank gets Puddles Duty as his holiday present: walk the dog, feed the dog, play with the dog (hey, it’s a very long movie and large pizza)….

So, will we return tomorrow to Bernice still avoiding life? That is never a constructive solution.

Will we see Luann in class? If so, will Nil ask about Bernice?

Will we see what is happening at the rental house?

Or, perhaps, will Gunther again visit Tiffany?

“It wasn’t a question of the mythical “perfection” it was bias against the voter. They wanted to be sure professionals made the final tally. Even then it was just white land owners who could vote, no women, black slaves, Indians, anyone not owning land could vote. So there is time for a change and maybe we will get it one day.”

    .

You call it “bias against the voter” but actually, it was selectivity of voters. They decided who was to be a voter and they used the standards of the time.

Slaves would vote as their masters ordered them, so the northerners didn’t want them to be allowed to vote (or counted fully in the Census).

Women would vote as their Lords and Masters (husbands, of course) told them so they saw no reason for women to vote, especially since they are all such dainty creatures.

Indian nations’ citizens weren’t citizens and didn’t pay taxes to support the efforts of the United States of America, so it was silly to consider having them vote just as it would be silly for Hungarians or other people of other nations to vote.

The idea that land owners would vote was based on the fact that they would have to pay for the results of the votes and the unlanded could up and move at will if they destroyed a place.

    .

Without compromises, the states would not have united to adopt the Constitution in the first place and a much worse state of affairs would have existed.

    .

Over time things changed and requirements changed and people voluntarily ceded the franchise to more and more groups out of the goodness of their hearts.

    .

I wonder if they are teaching these facts to Shannon in her school.

Vulcans have emotions, they just suppress their display, and do not overtly act on them. Sarek obviously loved Amanda, for example.

    .

    Nobody is truly free.

    The universe itself limits us.

Slave owners could be sold into slavery if they failed to pay their debts.

Your beloved pirates were not free to go openly anywhere lest they be hanged.

Pirates were as apt to sell pirated slaves as to enslave passengers and crew or to murder all of them.

Nice, liberal souls did not become pirates.

Slave owners were tied to their slaves: their obedience and health — not completely unlike guards in prisons.
