Richard wants attention. He’s younger than Mike, Lizzie and their friends and I imagine he gets ignored alot.

Some tattlers are worse than others. Richard is trying to get people in trouble, so he’s an ‘hole. This girl is letting Lizzie know she can’t trust everybody, and that’s a good thing.

USN1977. Yeah,you got it right.Richard ratted out Liz to get attention,or revenge,or just good old fashioned spite.Nothing new here,kids do it all the time.

Lynn’s notes:The complex business of when to tell and when not to stymies everyone. Sometimes you’re a tattletale; sometimes you’re a hero. When I wrote for the kids, I could feel the inconsistency and the unfairness, and it occurred to me that “telling” is a tattletale when said with a whine, and information when said with anxiety.

It’s odd how kids will rat out one another for some piddling thing but not mention some major infraction, like setting fire to the leaf pile. . Parent will be clueless until the fire truck arrives.

The only thing is kids who tattle to adults rather than to each other are nasty little kids and ones that adults should always keep an eye onKids should only tell on their friends about booze or drugs. Otherwise, do not tell on kids who are not related to you

There’s a fine line on being a snitch and being someone who see’s something which would be detrimental to all those involved…Snitches are Selfish….Others just Care…..
