If this is"the other woman" then be happy that it’s not an actual woman and count your blessings. Let him have his toy.

Get a boat. Soothes that sports car urge but is fun for the whole family. There’s nothing like a day on the lake tubing, skiing, and swimming to make your teenagers think that spending time with Mom and Dad isn’t so bad.

Barry1941; couldn’t have said it better. I was thinking as I read this strip that she should be happy he wants the car and not another woman.

I had a Lotus when I was a bachelor – that is exactly how women viewed it. I was spoken for.

So she should settle for the “lesser evil?” What a great view of marriage.

When I reached the “middle age crazies” I bought an airplane. Lost the wife, anyway, but had more fun with the Cessna than I ever did with my ex.

Let Elly give the car a test run. You might be surprised at her reaction!

I never had such a crisis. And I certainly never had the money either to indulge it such a waste of funds.

My dad’s “other woman” was a 1958 Chrysler 300D. He adored that car and it had enough room for the whole family and a week’s worth of luggage and a sewing machine. That first family vacation (1961) he had it up to 135 mph. She would scoot!

“She”? “SHE”?!? What kind of nerd refers to a car as “she”? (Oh, I forgot — ALL the guys in FBOW… Dad, Mike, Gordo…)

SPOILER ALERT: In a couple of years when Anne’s husband Steve has his mid-life crisis, Ellie will be thankful all John did was get a sports car.

Yup! And like others have said….be thankful it’s a good replacement for the “other woman.”

Did the car grow? In the first panel, it looks like the roof only comes up to their waist - looks like a toy car. In the last panel, it comes up to Elly’s chest. And the others are right - it was red.
