Poor, sweet Bellowthon, cut down in the prime of life

Her’s was a life filled, with sorrow pain and strife

Struggling to be accepted, for many, many years

She learned to get ahead required blood, sweat and tears

The saddest thing of all, is after finally accepting the score

That the W in her name would not be added to the door

The final act her constitutes would remember that she did

Was to cruelly try to banish both a grown-up and a kid.

So … the boys are off, with flashing lights and everything, to question both Mysta and Selfy. Here, the investigation begins in earnest.

Wonder if anyone will check Bellowthon’s “books” to see if Selfie was “skimming off the take”

I like the 2nd panel. Also, sounds like we’ll be seeing Mysta again tomorrow.

Regarding the late yesterday discussion of the < and > symbols, they are often called “angle brackets” when used in HTML: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/angle_bracket

Panel 2 is very well drawn. To me it shows a Tracy who sadly realizes Mysta might be Bellowthon’s killer.

I think panel two is the coolest drawn profile of Tracy ever!

The second panel is very strong, placing Tracy in shadow. A grim face is fitting as he leaves the room with Bellowthon’s corpse. Sunglasses almost forgot to remember to mention Selfy’s visit. A strong third panel shows Sam and Tracy in motion: on the case. More of the good stuff.

    - "Free Speech Has No Character Limit.”

This slogan sounds all high and noble, but, really, there have always been practical limits on length. Newspaper editors always have struggled with space limitations; speech makers must consider how long their audience will sit still; radio and TV programs are limited in length, etc.

I am not computer savvy enough to know whether Aaron’s explanations at GoComics have technical merit, but I certainly don’t believe anyone is trying to stifle free speech. To me, it sounded like the 21st Century version of the problems editors used to encounter in the composing room.

Having said that, I also know that today, “techies” just love to “fix” sites that don’t really need fixing. Just last week, stuff moved around on Windows 10 yet again, for no apparent reason. So I guess we’ll just have tro give this time, ans see if we like what GoComics has come up with.

To try the Beta, you have to sign up for a new account. Even our screen names will have to change under Aaron’s new fixes.

Just posted this over on the Luann boards in response to a comment there, pretty sure my argument is sound, but thought it wouldn’t hurt to solicit additional opinions …

Nothing is free. They have to pay the bills somehow. Also this isn’t a forum of free speech, it is business that has to run in the black not the red or it will cease to be.

    .

    .

    Not disagreeing in principle.

    .

    However …

    .

1.) The ad banners – and those particularly loathsome auto-play videos which which eat up my bandwidth – generate revenue for GoComics.

    .

2.) Pro accounts also generate revenue for GoComics.

    .

3.) Through ‘Rebranding,’ they will essentially be charging more for less, having limited services.

    .

Still consider it a raw deal.

    As for technical limitations …

    .

When Brad Bird was deep in pre-production for The Incredibles, the length of Violet’s hair was a point of contention: Bird insisted that it needed to be long, so that she could ‘hide’ behind it until the pivotal story beat where she comes into her own and tucks it back behind one ear, but the software designers said it couldn’t be done, that the software didn’t exist.

    .

    That was on a Friday.

    .

The following Monday, Bird returned to the offices, prepared to renew his arguments, only to be told by the tech staff, “Oh, we cracked the ‘long hair’ algorithms over the weekend. You want it, you’ve got it.”

    .

Isn’t it nice when everyone works together to solve a problem?

    .

PRO membership (now INSIDER) has no value that I can see other than as a placeholder until that membership has expired. Then they will want to renew you as a PREMIUM member at twice the price and half the amenities.

This morning, I stopped under the bridge and brought my pal SDM some hot coffee and we were looking at the squad car in today’s strip. There was something odd about it. And then it hit SDM first! The ELB (emergency light bar) is configured such that those in traffic cannot see the red and blue lights; only space aliens and those traveling in air cars can see the lights….. maybe it’s done on purpose.

Mike threw us a curve ball today, with Tracy’s after-the-fact revelation that Mr. Sunglasses did indeed report the presence of Selfy Narcisse, albeit as a nearly forgotten addition to his narrative. I see Tracy in panel 2 as getting his detection skills into gear as he mulls over Selfy’s possible role and prepares to question him again. Classic first-person narration. A quick checkout of Mysta at Diet Smith’s offices, IMO largely pro forma, will give Tracy and Sam more time to think and to prepare for confronting Narcisse….
