People have been saying Happy Holidays for about 200 years now.

Merry Christmas, or whatever you celebrate, or not, the First Amendment guarantees that right.

Christmas 1966 I looked forward to seeing the new year, and being back home the next Christmas, it gave me hope.

This year I have hope that not one single thing Mr. Trump has planned will come to fruition. That is my hope for my nation, and the planet we inhabit and need to protect as well. Two things Trump only wants to destroy for profit.

The main point is Trump is a hypocrite and his claim that we’ll be able to say “Merry Christmas” again — aside from being idiotic, since unlike in a despotic theocracy, no one was ever prevented from doing so — just panders to the Christian right as throughout his public life, he has never demonstrated anything but secular beliefs. This is only one of many ways Trump’s hypocrisy / deceit / dishonesty is on full display.

I say "happy holidays’ because it is more inclusive. I guess that annoys people who do not like include others in their celebrations.

Trump IS religious. He embodies all of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Eisenhower, a lifelong atheist, joined a church only because the Republican party told him he had to if he wanted to be president.

It should be noted that Trump’s own cards from his business this year said Happy Holidays.

So did Fox News’s.

Actually being devoid of any Christian values is about the only good thing about Trump.

Trump is the modern version of lumps of coal in the Christmas stocking. Four years of lumps of coal for Christmas are the result of having been very naughty for many decades. Another Christmas myth is that “Xmas” is an attempt to remove Christ from Christmas. Actually the X is a Greek chi and is an ancient abbreviation for Christ. But no fear, “Xmas” has been deprecated since long before the War on Christmas (TM. pat. pend.) began.

Merry Christmas! Plenty of liberals are more than happy to say this or Happy Holidays. Typically many say Merry Christmas if it happens to be December 25. The war on Christmas is a lot of phony baloney.

The electoral college is antiquated and a relic of when slave owners held that slaves should only be considered a fraction of a human being. Amendments to the constitution have happened in the past. The voting age was once 21, it is now 18. This happened in 1971.The prez used to be allowed to have more than 2 terms. Then, FDR had 4 terms. After this the Republicans decided that there should be term limits. In 1920, women were allowed to vote. And there have been other amendments too. No, I am not ignorant of civics. Perhaps some who think that the electoral college must remain in place are ignorant of civics however. I have talked about this on this thread before, but I am more than willing to have the discussion again if someone accuses me of being ignorant of civics or defends the electoral college. As to those who think we would be better off without NY or California, I would be careful what you wish for, as they are both far wealthier states than many others. Who is going to pay for those entitlements like Medicare or the military gadgets some conservatives feel we so desperately need?

Also, my dislike of the electoral college predates 2016. I have not forgotten the election of 2000. Al Gore received more votes than W. I have no doubt Gore would have been a far superior potus than W, so I will never forget that one either.

There are also other ways that have been discussed to abolish the electoral college.

The GOP is talking about adopting the superdelegate approach, except they will call them victory delegates.

I don’t have to sincerely hope that lamerandomname isn’t a lame sort of person, since plenty of lame arguments have been outlined here lamerandomname.

Lots of Christians don’t celebrate Christmas. Quakers consider it to be 1) a pagan holiday 2) everyday is holy and should be celebrated 3) lots o babies are born but only Christ died and was resurrected so we may have eternal life. Celebrate the real holiday Easter.

Just watched “my guy” the Dalai Lama, and his humor and grace always show. Which listening to him would be a good way for “Christians” to lean what being a GOOD Christian is about too.

Um, Trudeau was basically just quoting trump. He used trump’s words.

“Utterly void of a single Christian virtue” shows that Trudeau has no understanding of Christianity. Christians know that they have no virtue. That’s the whole point of why we need a redeemer.
