It’s like this is a re-tread of a 35 year old strip.

I know the feeling, Luann. I have the same kind of fun when I sleep in on my day off and pretend that I’m so late for work that I’m bound to be fired for it — and then I grin!

Sometimes I do this with my husband. He’ll gripe about something and I’ll say “Remember around this time of year back in such and such a year when things were worse?” It helps put things in prospective and be thankful they’re not worse now.

Good way, I guess (if you’re Luann), to ‘get it out of the way’, before it actually happens in the next school year or even the next term…. or, to let out the frustrations from when it already happened from before, and you were too “shellshocked” or too busy going through the experience, to process….

Luann has a car?

The only thing that puts this in a current time frame is the mention of her car being out of gas.

I don’t why people are surprised that Sunday’s are the human foible strips. The only time that was changed in recent memory had to do with the wedding. Otherwise, the Sunday panel is a break from whatever arc is going on, or has concluded. All can say is duh!! I think its fine, the strip does not need to be enhanced by a change for Sunday. If anything the break from the arc, and the anticipation makes it more delicious and interesting than without this “intermission”. My humble opinion anyway.

On a positive note there are no more movie magazines laying around. I wonder what Tiffany does on the Summer break? I doubt that she’s home with daddy. Maybe he sends her on a perfume testing tour in Paris.

I notice that i missed including a prediction a number of days ago (before anyone else if memory serves) by Sallymargaret about Mr. Grey proposing to Mrs. Berger. I recall it led to multiple replies about what might happen then, complete w Gunther moving to the university.

Reliving the anxieties of the academic year enhances the tranquillity of summer break? I suppose it might, for someone like Luann. But normal people, if such there be, would gladly put all that behind them and get on with enjoying summer activities and friends….

Luann in the top part of the 2nd panel reminds me of Charlie Brown or maybe Linus (Peanuts) when they throw their arms in the air and scream AAUUGHHH!!!

Lucky Luann. All the real-world Community Colleges in my surrounding area have summer terms (most have 4 yearly quarters). But she can afford to take the summer term off – assuming that the Junior College in Luanniverse has a summer term.

who wears monochrome? no young lady would be caught dead with that fashion mistake, even during vacation!

This year, a bad boy has a brush with drugs. Next year: teen pregnancy. But will it be LuAnn, Tiffany, Bernice…or someone new, brought in just for the purpose?
