That’s a new low for Dr Mel, stealing ideas from Galaxy Quest.

No, the last thing Dr. Mel did was show Winky the Undo Button. Makes you wonder what might happen if that was undone. I could see a “Groundhog Day” scenario developing here.

Next time, invent a redo button before inventing an undo button…

He should invent an undoo button. Dog owners will either make him rich, or sue him into bankruptcy when their pets are traumatized by the reversal process.

I have one of those, and it works perfectly. Every time I press it to undo something, it undoes the last thing I did — pressing the undo button — so of course nothing is ever undone.

If it really worked the way Dr. Mel describes it, it would undo his utterance of the sentence in panel 3. Winky would be stuck there forever, thinking, “So when is Dr. Mel going to show me how it works?”

The last thing Dr. Mel does is press the undo button and that will undo his pressing the undo button so nothing will happen and he’ll think the device doesn’t work.

So it also undid his knowing how to invent an undo button, and he can never make another? He should have made it so he could choose what to undo.

What he needs now, is Sapphire, from the British TV show, Sapphire & Steel. She could roll time back several seconds, allowing you to avoid a mistake, or catch something that dropped before it broke.

Isn’t this basically a version of the “I can’t find my invisibility device” gag?
