Kate: So this is the sacred vessel of nature? Danae: Cool! Captain Eddie: Ah-yeh.... it insulates the Ekert from the anti-Ekert and keeps him from growin'... so he can hide in plain sight. The Ekert presahvation league has guarded this secret fah ovah a thosuand years, so you can't tell anyone! Flo: OK... this is gettin' too bizzah... so what's next? Santa Claus is the leadah of this group, and the Eastah Bunny is the sahgeant-at-ahms? Captain Eddie: The othah way around, actually. But that's a secret, too, so don't go blabbin' it around. Flo: Oh, trust me, Eddie... To be quizically continued!

Bizzah! Too, too bizzah! And yet Kate and Danae accept it as cool.

A Thermos Bottle? Alladin’s Lamp? A Klein Bottle? A Mason Jar? A Snow Globe? A Lava Lamp?
Am I getting warm?

he couldn’t hide in a pumpkin, making it glow like a jack-o-lantern, could he? where would he go the other 11 months?
Mushnoggin about 14 years ago
I wonder if it’s the hut they originally found him in?

All of you are forgetting the ancient tradition. Ekert has shown the ability to perform mighty magics, to grow and shrink enormously. It is obviously a variant of the species d’jinn and thus the appropriate enclosure is a fired-clay lamp embossed with the Seal of Solomon!

Put the Ekert back in the shed, until the sequel.

Could Ekert fit In a pendant on a cat collar, like the galaxy in MIB? That’s plain sight, hmmm?

Glad the Great Pumpkin didn’t come up.

Well, a few years ago, the Girls saved SC from the evil leader of Megalocorp, so how is this unbelievable? Remember the Giant Lobster scenario that CPN Eddie alluded to? And proof that he has visited Alt-earth?

Remember when the Ekert was released from the shed in the woods? There was a yellow light that came from the shed. What, when opened, creates such a light?

Clark Kent, tell the truth, you really are Martha Stewart aren’t you??

Guarding the secret for over a 1000 years. So it isn’t most of the things Joe Minotaur listed. I looked up inventions from 1000 AD and didn’t really find anything that might work.

It’s cats. Right there in plain sight.

“Hide in plain sight”
Let’s hope the anti-ekert isn’t a geocacher. We’re trained too look for caches in plain sight. I found caches in a thermometer, a fake but life-like crosswalk button, a door stopper, a light reflector, a rock, nanos placed between ribs of oak tree bark, flat magnets that pose as official codes for whatever they’re attached to (the log is a single sheet of paper taped on the back of the magnet), and a few electrical box covers (I have two of those, waiting for a good place to “hide” them).
All of the suggestions made by other commentators would be obvious to geocachers looking for something. I guess it’d be harder when the geocacher doesn’t have a set of coordinates that tell how close the cache is..

So the shed glowed when he was let out. What glows when it’s opened? And may “insulate the ekert?” A refrigerator. That’s my guess. So much in plain sight, you’d never think to look.

Joe’s Klein bottle might do the trick. It has only one surface and therefore is insensitive to the size of it’s contents.

I was thinking frig too… but I rarely see those in nature. :)
I like the pumpkin idea! It seems to fit fairly well… although it is seasonal, so I’m not sure eckert could hide well in Spring.
I love this and hate it at the same time. :)

H’mmm. A tree? A cave? A glacier? (I’m trying to think of things that might have been around a thousand years ago…since the “Ekert Preservation League” has kept the secret that long…)

There are people that leave that rotten, funky pumpkin on the porch for a looong time.

letś see. a common container thatś been around for over 1000 years and lots of these. hmmm. bottles.
Drivel about 14 years ago
I seem to recall it was a natural container. But I’d be out of my gourd to suggest it was something as simple as a pumpkin - even if it was close to Halloween.
bmonk about 14 years ago
Besides, pumpkins weren’t used before about the 1700s–they are a New World plant, and weren’t in the same hemisphere as Halloween before Columbus. Earlier, turnips were carved as lanterns. So that’s only about (at most) 300 years, not 1000….

The Klein Bottle has one surface, I’m told. But just how much liquid will it hold? It has no bottom or topper, no stem or stopper. Some fear it might even explode. But take it into space, it’s not out of place. You can use it as a Zero-G commode.

I made a great fruitcake one year for all the family, but many ridiculed it. I made them around October and stored them wrapped in tins and doused with rum or brandy every week. At Christmas, I made poinsettias and holly of almond paste and wrapped decoratively to ship. Anyone who did not appreciate was a cretin! I’m currently making breakfast bars for myself (which I eat with plain yogurt and at least 3 kinds of fruit - after my morning citrus for wake-up). All whole grains and seeds with walnuts, flax, chopped fruit and raisons (that fruit is the only sweetner) and I love them -totally yummy!

I thinkin’ maybe a “cooler”, mine has a light in the lid for finding the right beverage in the dark. Solar powered. Just a guess.

Consider why containers were invented… To hold Beer. What better sacred vessel to conceal The Ekert in plain sight?
