I remember a commercial from the late 60’s about drinking from a bottle. It featured a musical group called The Glass Menagerie. “Soft drinks taste great in a bottle- It’s uncanny- you see the color in front of your eyes- It’s uncanny- It’s a snap for you to recap ‘em- It’s uncanny- And bottles come in every shape and size.”
Canny beer? No thanks! Only if there is really nothing else but Coke, Pepsi, or water or so. Take to craft beer instead, it doesn’t come in barrels and bottles for nothing.
I have heard from a professional brewer that cans are a better container. They are coated to prevent mineral leaching and they block all light. If you don’t care for the can itself, then pour the beer into a glass. If you are out on the lawn drinking beer on a hot day, the can is fine and the colder, more tasteless and lower in alcohol the beer is, the better.
Stuff it, experts! I have had beers over the years in both cans and bottles, and if given a choice I prefer bottles, which leave the taste of the beer alone, whereas cans tend to taste canny (don’t try to tell me “it ain’t so,” ’cause my own taste buds tell me it is so).
P.S. (mostly in response to Picto regarding U.S. macro-beers): http://tinyurl.com/ydg6m87n (Chicago Tribune beer blind taste-test).
IMO only benefit in can, the can is able to be packed much easier as way less, less likely to break, and far far quicker to get cold when put into a freezer or cold river. Taste wise, only thing from a can not taste tinny to me, is soda pop .

Some prefer it straight from the barrel because it tastes kegger.

If you ask Pig to look up any word in a thesaurus, he’ll then ask if such a dinosaur exists.

What are you saying, Paris? The two guys should be in the bottles?

I take it the guys in the photo were wearing coke-bottle glasses.

As for cans, you can have fun getting cozy with them. Or, you know, cozies for them.

Cossell: “Bob, I’ll bet you can’t use truculent in a sentence.”
Uecker: “Sure I can, Howard. ‘I want to thank you for that truck you lent me last week.’”

I prefer soda instead of beer because soda is way healthier (but still unhealthy). I prefer NOT to drink (beer of course).

Sucks that every time Goat uses a somewhat complex word, he always expects Pig not to know it.

I’ve never seen anyone in this comic drink beer from a bottle! Ever!
