Apparently Luann has been outside the Luanniverse and reading the strip in real time like the rest of us … LOL

Luann comments that the TV story is dragging on?

It is the voice of Greg himself laughing at our comments.

That deserves a deserving mention of the infanmously famous misquote of Will Rogers:

….oh, and Luann did buy that Mars bar. Though no matter how much I blow up the panel I can’t read it as such in today’s strip. But what an effect that candy bar has had on Luann even without her taking a first bite.

Her top now has eight buttons.

I hope that Bernice isn’t going to say that she just now found out the thief’s name. She’s known for months that the thief lived in Room 213. Bernice is the RA — she should already have known who lived in each room of the dorm, or at least she should have had a list of who lives in which room. If Bernice didn’t know or find out the thief’s name months ago, she must not have been paying attention.

(I doubt there was more than one person living in Room 213, because Ms. Lopez said there was a lot of stolen items there, and the thief would have had difficulty concealing the TV and other items from her roommate if she had one.)

Did anyone notice that Luann’s jacket/sweater now has nine buttons? That’s quite a change from the five she had when she entered the bookstore. Didn’t someone mention there was a significance to the number of buttons?

I am not sure why this story is coming back up, unless it is in some way involved with Ann Eiffel. The main point was that they suspected Piro and both Piro and Bernice were willing to sacrifice themselves for the other because they both felt the other was guilty, which was an odd combination of loyalty and mistrust. Then, as it turned out, Piro was a lousy kisser and that ended up being more important than anything else. The thief story served its objective, so why are we returning to it?

Why are Luann and Bernice wearing sweaters in August? It’s hot outside. They’re stylish though.

Any bets that there will be no further mention of the TV thief during the rest of this arc?

Luann bought the candy bar as a diversion so they would not notice that she made off with $474 worth of books. It is a reverse bait and switch routine. Pretty sly, Luann, but that still makes you a thief.

The thief can’t be any of the regulars. If it’s anyone we’ve seen, it might be one of Dez’s shady friends who we’ve only gotten a glimpse of.

Yes, the thief did seem to drag the TV through the halls, for a while. That thing must’ve weighed down, after a bit of time. Trudging up…and down…with it, while everyone was busy in crazy situations! Guess they were probably wondering when someone would even notice….

It occurs to me that most community colleges offer an Associates Degree after two years. Luann has been attending it for at least four, possibly as many as eight years. I’ve lost count. What exactly is her end-game besides complete and total stasis, an inability to mature, an inherent fear of taking any but the most puerile risks….. Meanwhile I attended three institutions of higher learning in my career. One was a small college, one a major land grant university, and one an ivy league institution. Never once have I heard of any single university in this country referred to by the shorthand “Uni…”

This strip is like the Russian doll within a doll within a doll—matryoshka—in that arcs fold into arcs, with smaller stories that end up in even smaller arcs. The thief and the stolen TV, which went into Tiffany and Piro, and Tiffany and Bernice, and Bernice and Tiffany, and…? Since it’s left open we don’t know WHAT information she is about to disclose, but bet, we all we be dying to find out. Will we before the current panel runs into foible Sunday? Maybe, but I see another little doll coming.

Heres a thought: Since the media age at which American women lose their virginity is 17 years, 6 months, and Luann is clearly past that as she’s in college, why not make this the year that Luann loses hers?

That was so long ago I almost forgot about that. And that was the person who smashed the candy machine. I guess they stole the TV, too.

Well, it is surprising that the TV incident is coming back into play. I had really thought it was going to be left as a red herring sort of thing. This makes me wonder if it is somehow going to link into other arcs. I am not sure how or why it could. But, we shall see.

I find it fun and funny that Greg has chosen to break the “4th Wall” with Luann’s comment about “forever” with us. But, at the same time, I find it just a bit disconcerting…. to me this is a clear indication that Greg is reading the comments here…. which is fine…. but I would hate to have the collective comments here influence Greg’s story making decisions. Perhaps we already have some evidence of this, with the surprising return of Ann Eiffel now as Mr. Gray’s sister? Perhaps all the comments from here that talked about bringing Ann back were listened to and that is why she is back in this new role? For me, though if Greg is being influenced by our comments on his story progression… I have a bit of fear that this influence may make the stories become less “Greg-inspiried” and more a matter of concensus. To my manner of thinking, this would not be good…. I read Luann for Greg’s excellent story telling abilities. So, I hope that Greg does not let the comments here influence him too much.

Luann: So Elwood set up this insanely amazing dinner in the park then asked me to marry him. I said no of course. Just now I gave him his ring back. A jeweler said it’s a cheap imitation, but Elwood says it’s a $15,000 diamond he got from a friend. I don’t know who’s lying or being conned or … Why are you staring at me, Gunther?

Gunther: I’m just wondering what you’d be like if you were normal like the rest of us.

Aww, I hope Greg Evans isn’t beating himself up over this. There are multiple plotlines going on. It’s not like this is Game of Thrones and I’m wondering where the White Walkers are. I’m looking forward to seeing how the missing TV is resolved!

Luann’s comment is funny because of all our comments about the TV thief. But as far as L and B know the story is all wrapped up. The thief has been caught and the proper authorities are dealing with her. There is no need for L and B to be concerned about the matter at all.

Easy enough it was Ann Eiffel who stole the TV and lost her job at the University and is now going to try to steal from the Fuse.

Sure, because it only happened last winter! How could you possibly find the time to learn more about her?

I can not recall offhand who it was, but one of the other women yesterday said something along the line of wanting to see Luann find creative and affordable ways to tackle her itch list. I would like that and would also like to see her do so in active ways. For example, i was able to attend many concerts side stage, as was my hubby. Both of us began doing so as volunteers for school concerts (and i later did some part time work for a company that ran oldies concerts, my favorite because the performers were professional, not full of themselves – unlike ones who were currently popular – and fun to work with).

There must be some active ways for Luann to realize or come close to some of her other dreams.

How do you suggest she manage to achieve some of her wishes?

Cute, Luann speaks in the voice of the audience today! Many of us—I think most—are curious still about the Stolen TV Caper and who the perp was (whether a known cast member or some newbie). Spill what you know, Bernice Blabbermouth!

I hope that the TV thief is not Ann Eiffel’s daughter. Like the surprise we got -that Les is her son. Maybe the 2 arcs could be tied together!?!

And just to increase the number count to the veritable virtual verbosity of overtly obtuse antonymous and/or asinine remarks:

Just how much do those textbooks weigh? Start over. Going into the bookstore, the door handle was level to Luann’s elbow. Now in today’s panel, it is well above her elbow.

Is somebody going to tell me it’s actually the accumulated weight of all those spurious spontaneously generated gratuitous buttons?

And what is up with Bernice’s hands today, or is it just me. After a few decades of working in sheet metal and owning over 40 hammers, it takes a conscious effort for me to have my fingers stick straight out. Bernice looks like she is ready to start doing the Robot Dance.
