It’s a little encouraging to see that the kids in her class miss Tiffany, in spite of the way she has often been presented as an incompetent in the classroom.
Berniece is walking a fine line between friend and RA there, and not too well. I don’t think she should have mentioned to Luann that “counseling’s been arranged” – would’t that be considered privileged information?
….if Bernice is answering her dorm room door like this, then how did Luann even get into that building in the first place? I remember a big deal being made about Piro being in the building without a keycard, but now here Luann is wandering the hall. Did that particular rule get thrown out by the writer, or is the security guard failing at his job again?
Awww, how sweet of the children! Despite Tiffany’s obvious disdain for most of them, she still bonded with some of them – remember the picture a small boy drew of her? She still has it on her wall, last we saw.
Their cute little selves put those nice flowers on the card, which is creative! Practical? Not in the sense of “if you want to slip the card under a door”, no. Not unless you don’t mind the flowers coming off, in the process.
-
But….though they didn’t anticipate that sort of scenario, they still put their little hearts into it! And the best part? It’s worth a lot, cos they gave from the treasure of their heart, not their wallet!
So the big question, for me anyway, is has Tiffany been reclusive because she losing the extra pounds or is she still depressed? It’s sweet the kids miss her and I hope Luann attempts delivery of the card.
Gee, all … here’s a thought. Why not just text or call Gunther to tell HIM about the card and how the kids MISS Tiff and care about her?? Lu and Bern know he’s been talking to her, right? Let him guide them as to what to do with the card, and how to present it. That’s a sweet gift from the kids, and Tiffany – even if hesitant at first – would come to appreciate and love it! Could be an ‘inspiration point’ for her, maybe.
The kids’ card reminds me of when, for Valentines Day, our 3rd grade class decorated white paper bags for the Val-Day card exchange – each kid decorated their bag. I saw about using construction paper differently and made paper springs to pop out the hearts on the bag. It was cool at the time! And the classmates liked it, most everyone did! …
That is EXCEPT for the teacher. She was a typical ‘schoolmarm’ throwback – I think you can envision the type just fine – and she groaned about how the bags had to be folded and put in a box first – THEN opened and arranged for the cards to be given out (that wasn’t made all too clear at first). I knew she was not happy, and wasn’t sure what to do, being so young. She finally moaned to just put it on top of the box. The event itself went fine – but MAN, she was a mean one!!!
I am pleased to see both Bernice and Luann showing care for Tiffany. This is a very nice outcome for this exchange.
I am a little surprised that Tiffany’s reclusivness has potentially resulted in her receiving counseling. In my “old-school” mindset, this makes it seem MORE serious than I was thinking thus far.
However, that said, I think counseling will hopefully be helpful for Tiffany. I guess it is true that counseling is a more common, more frequently used, and much less “stigmatizing” treatment for many folks today than it was when I was back in college. And, that also is a very good thing.
If Tiffany is so reclusive currently, I am worried this will have a very big impact on her class performance as well. I know that at least SOME of her classes this semester are on-line courses, but I tend to doubt that ALL of them are.
It should be a very interesting week. I am hoping it does not go in a difficult, dark, or sad direction, however.
Knock on Tiff’s door. When she hollers “go away!” say (in a false voice), FedEx (or UPS, or your choice) for Miss Tiffany Farrell! When she opens the door just a crack, shove the card in before has a chance to react and slam the door in your face. Mission accomplished!
The mission is to express her own caring and that of the children to Tiffany. If Tiffany is yet not able to deal with that, well, try again later or keep the 3D card until she is. It will still be there.
I wonder if Tiffany is now trying to starve herself back into her previous shape so that when she ventures out she will be close to her old self. That’s a recipe for ED.

“Tiff is still acting reclusive.”
Translation: I don’t know and I don’t care.
“I think some counciling has been arranged.”
Translation: I don’t know and I don’t care.
“Just slip the card under the door.”
Translation: Don’t you dare have more feelings for Tiffany than I do.

I’m glad they’re finally getting her some counseling, hooray on that. The card is cute but it won’t fit under the door, Luann should definitely knock.
